Hope you all are doing well! We are very excited about the completion of our new east parking lot-it looks great-as does the recovering of the west lot. The sanctuary renovations are nearing completion, and we should resume holding worship services there sometime in August. As soon as we know the exact date we will let you know. In the meantime we will continue to hold all services in the parish hall. Thanks for your prayers and patience-the project is coming along really well-it will be well worth the wait. Take care and I'll see you soon!

We are expanding our lunch bunch ministry. Lunch Bunch is a great ministry that feeds children in our community every 1st and 3rd Saturday. This fall we would like to expand the ministry to every Saturday. This means we need volunteers! We will have six teams available and you may sign up for a team and volunteer one Saturday every six weeks. Please see Philip Ryan, Pepi Nelson, or Sandy Sandbach for questions or to sign up.

Leidy and her family are in their house!
|
The happiest of news to report from the Dominican Republic today - on Wednesday, July 26, Leidy and her family moved into the house in El Pedregal that our Home and Go Teams made possible for them! Leidy sent this message to everyone at Christ Church and our partner churches:
Thank you very much!
We are very pleased to be in our home
which is also your home.
-- Leidy Rosario
In other news, the mission trip summary report is being edited now and should be ready for the Friday Bulletin on August 4. The permanent photo album for the 2017 trip is ready now and is available at this link. There might be a little editing to refine the chronological order of the photos and maybe to add in a few more images during the next week. This permanent album replaces the Facebook album that was created during the mission trip.

Break Bread Together, a local meals-on-wheels type program sponsored by the First Presbyterian Church of Valdosta, Georgia, is currently looking for volunteers to help with deliveries of a hot, balanced, noonday meal to low income, usually elderly, homebound recipients in Valdosta with no one in the home to care for them. A delivery route takes about 30 minute. You can pick as many days, or times during the month you would to help. If you would be interested in helping deliver meals, please contact Beth Mathis at 249-0779 at First Presbyterian Church.

Father Dave's New Book Release
|
Release Date: July 25, 2017
|
For the last several years Dave Johnson and Justin Holcomb have been working on an academic volume for NYU Press,
Christian Theologies of the Sacraments, which was released on July 25, 2017. It is a compendium of essays from various scholars (including Ashley Null, Michael Horton, etc.) tracing the development of various perspectives on the sacraments throughout church history.
From NYU Press: "The NYU Press is proud to announce the release of
Christian Theologies of the Sacraments by Justin S. Holcomb and David A. Johnson. Holcomb and Johnson delve into the ancient debate regarding the nature and purpose of the sacraments, which has elicited a lively discussion among theologians. In this extremely cohesive and well-crafted volume, a group of renowned scholars map the theologies of sacraments offered by key Christian figures from the Early Church through the twenty-first century."
The jacket endorsement from Paul Zahl: "Behold: an instant classic compendium and textbook on the Christian sacraments. Justin Holcomb and David Johnson have created a coup with this beautifully organized, edited, and accessible 'time-line' of essays on the historic disagreements concerning the means of grace, from the earliest days of the Church to the political theologies of today."
-Rev. Dr. Paul F.M. Zahl, Author of
Grace in Practice
