SDMS Career Day

MCBP joined Stephen Decatur Middle School for career day. SDMS alum and MCBP intern, Amanda, inspired students to volunteer and help the environment.
Thank You Maryland Conservation Corps!

Sale! Sale! Sale!

It's that time of year again! Assateague Outfitters has closed for the season and has rental equipment for sale. We have beach cruisers with fenders and a hand break and very, very worn canoes. They are old, but still float. Make us an offer! Contact Sandi Smith at  [email protected]  or by calling 410-213-2297 ext. 106 to make arrangements.

MCBP Bids A Fond Farewell to Jen Rafter
Jen will be sorely missed at MCBP!

Jen has worked with MCBP since 2014, as both Program Manager and Technical Coordinator. We will miss her optimistic personality and wealth of knowledge! Fortunately, Jen will still assist MCBP part-time during this transition period.
Ten Days for the Bays
Join MCBP for the last Ten Days for the Bays Event!

Our last 10 Days for the Bays event is Saturday, December 10th. Meet us at our office,  8219 Stephen Decatur Highway, Berlin MD, at  10 am to help restore the Lewis Road Kayak Launch by removing an invasive vine called wisteria. This vine is trying to take over the property and will choke out trees along the way. We will carpool to the site and work until 1 pm. Lunch provided. RSVP is required,   [email protected] or 410-213-2297 ext. 103.

Thank you to everyone who has donated their time and hard work to help restore our Coastal Bays! If you've missed out on joining us for a 10 Days for the Bays event, no worries, there will be a new and improved volunteer program starting in the spring of 2017. Stay tuned for details!
Seal Stewards
As seal season begins, join us for Seal Steward training!

I t's time to start gearing up for another Seal Steward season as our winter visitors have been spotted in the Delaware surf.

This year's training will be conducted on Tuesday, December 13th, 5-6 at the Ocean City Library.

MCBP partners with the National Aquarium's Marine Animal Rescue Program to assist Ocean City's animal control with protecting seals. Seals are federally protected by the Marine Mammal Protection Act. They travel hundreds of miles and sometimes need to haul out, beach themselves, to rest.  The Seal Steward program consists of volunteers who are on call to help monitor our resting visitors when they haul out, and educate the public on the importance of keeping seals safe by giving them space.

For those of you who trained last year, we still have you on our list and are welcome to attend the training but it's not necessary. Please contact Sandi Smith at  [email protected] or calling 410-641-2949 ext 106 if you plan on attending the class.
