Robert Martin grew up in Wakefield, Virginia and graduated from Surry County High School.  He earned a Career Studies Certificate in Diesel Technology from Southside Virginia Community College.

Currently a Fleet Maintenance Area Manager for Walmart's distribution center in Sutherland, Robert hopes to start his own business with an automotive and diesel repair shop.

Robert feels the staff and curriculum at SVCC's Occupational/Technical Center in Blackstone were instrumental in preparing him the management position he holds in the diesel mechanics industry today.

When asked what advice he would like to give to current and potential SVCC students, Robert replied, "Take pride in your work and never give up on your schooling.   It is the best investment you will ever make."
