Generation TX Month
The Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board (THECB), creators of the Generation Texas movement, proudly announces the
Generation TX Month campaign, which combines our statewide college application and financial aid campaigns, efforts and resources into one powerful month.
This coincides with the opening of the
2017-18 FAFSA and
TASFA in the month of October.
This year, Generation TX is supporting two important efforts for College Application and Financial Aid Awareness Month (
Generation Texas Month) in November 2016 to support all students in getting to and through college across the state of Texas! During Generation Texas Month, students at participating high schools will be assisted as they complete college and financial aid applications (
ApplyTexas and
FAFSA or
TASFA).

Revalidated Enrollment in State Medicaid Programs
The Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (PPACA) required providers to revalidate their enrollment in state Medicaid programs by Sept. 24, 2016.
In accordance with PPACA and based on direction from the Texas Health and Human Services Commission (HHSC), TMHP has accepted and is processing completed revalidation applications received by Sept. 24, 2016. There will be no dis-enrollment action taken on providers who met this submission date and continue to respond to application deficiencies by specified deadlines.
The Texas Medicaid & Healthcare Partnership (TMHP) has begun dis-enrollment actions on providers who failed to submit a completed revalidation application by September 24, 2016. These actions will be completed and a final dis-enrollment effective date of Jan. 31, 2017 will be applied to any provider who failed to meet the application submission deadline.

Call for Programs: ACAC Inaugural Conference
The Association for Child and Adolescent Counseling (ACAC) is a division of ACA and is proud to present ACAC's Inaugural Conference
July 20-21, 2017 at Marymount University in Arlington, Virginia.
The ACAC Conference Committee is now accepting proposals for the conference.The conference theme is "Trauma in Child and Adolescent Counseling." This theme is aligned with that of American Counseling Association's (ACA) incoming president, Gerard Lawson.
Conference proposals for all age groups (i.e., birth - five, school age and adolescence) in all settings (schools, community mental health, private practice and supervision) for all levels (beginners, intermediate and advanced) are welcome.

Technology Survey: Speak Up 2016
Speak Up 2016 will be open October 12-December 16, 2016. Participants are invited to use Speak Up 2016 to identify how students, teachers, administrators and parents use technology for learning, communications and collaboration. Speak Up 2016 data is free for schools.

Texas Corn Youth Grants
The Texas Corn Youth Grant Program
is designed to assist Texas FFA Chapters and Texas 4-H Clubs or associations with project(s) that lack funding within its local school district or county program. The grant amount awarded will be a minimum of $250 and the maximum of $2,500 per application.
Who Can Apply
- Texas FFA Chapters
- Texas A&M AgriLife Extension 4-H/Youth Associations
- Comparable youth organizations, as approved by Texas Corn Producers
Submission Requirements
Applicants must complete the
application form in full and submit it along with two (2) letters of support for the planned project/activity as outlined below:
- One letter from a FFA or 4-H sponsor, advisor, volunteer leader, or agent.
- One letter from a school administrator, extension administrator, county judge or other community member.
Deadline
Completed
applications
must be postmarked or emailed no later that Nov. 1, 2016. Applications will be evaluated, and award letters will be sent by Nov. 15, 2016.
