Principal Notes                                                    October 26, 2017
Dear Families,

I have some news to share with you that is bittersweet.  Mrs. Tianana Dubinski came to me this week to let me know that her last day will be December 31st. She has two small children and would like to spend more time with them. We all understand the want and need to spend more time with our children, but we will miss her and all the wonderful gifts that she has brought to St. Mary's.  I have begun looking for a long term sub to finish out the rest of the school year.  In the spring I will look for a permanent replacement.

A big thank you goes out to all the volunteers who made Spooks and Spoofs such a wonderful event. We had a great turnout!

We had a beautiful day for the Souls Walk!  Over 9000 people were there to walk for Catholic Education.  Thank you for starting the day here at SMV with coffee and donuts and then walking with us.

I want to personally thank Jake Merrick, one of our 8th graders. He has tirelessly been wearing the Gladiator costume. The costume is heavy, hot and very clumsy.  He never complains and always stays in character. Thank you for representing our school is such an awesome way!

Please join us for mass on Wednesday at 8:00 for the Feast of All Saints.  Stop by the gym after from 9:30-11:00 for our All Saints Museum.   We will have over 50 saints from our church's history wonderfully acted out by our 7 th and 8 th grade students.

We are beginning the cold and flu season.  If your child has a fever, vomiting or diarrhea, please keep them home for at least 24 hours. We have so many families with new babies, moms that are expecting or siblings that cannot have any vaccinations. We want to keep everyone healthy.

Did you know that a portion of the proceeds from the Seton Volleyball Tournament are designated to be distributed to the Foundation for Religious Retirement and the Waukesha County Catholic Schools Tuition Assistance Fund? It is used to make Catholic school education a real possibility for those students who may not otherwise be able to afford full tuition. Assistance is in the form of $1,000 grants.  Monies are given to the school and are credited to the family. Since the beginning of the The Seton, over $77, 980 in scholarships have been awarded to families.

The following link will provide you with more information and access to the application.  Please note that to be considered, applications must be completed, signed and received on or before February 1, 2018.  If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to ask me.

Blessings,

Office Notes
Label, Label, Label
As the weather becomes cooler, children are beginning to wear coats, hats, mitten, boots,.... Please label your child's clothing.  Every year we send  bags of unmarked clothing over to the Thrift Shop.

Immunizations
A few weeks ago some families got a notice saying that your child's school records needed to be updated or that we don't have any records of your child's immunizations.  Please return the forms with the dates or have your child's doctor's office fax us the record at 262-782-3035.  There will be another notice going out next week.

Photos, Photos, Photos
If you are at a SMV function and are taking pictures, we would love to see them.  We are always looking for pictures for our newsletters, facebook and our website.  Please feel free to email your photos to kdries@stmaryeg.org.

Positively  SMV

Many thanks to Mrs Sue Olbrantz and the Home and School Board for organizing another fabulous Spooks and Spooks!  We appreciate all the hard work and dedication required to make the night such a success. As declared by many students, "it is the best night of the year!"

We would also like to thank Dr Therese Pickart for her work in organizing the Soles Walk for Education!  We had over 150 SMV walkers this year. It was a great morning- one that makes you proud to be a part of the SMV family!
....And with that, please find a few things that are Positively SMV!
