Society Membership Class

Have you ever wondered how Shoreline Christian came to be? Do you want to know what it really means when we say "Shoreline Christian is a parent-run school?" Do you want to help make decisions that effect your students, our staff, and the future of SCS? Come to the Society Membership Class on Monday, October 2, at 7:00 pm.

Shoreline Christian is owned and operated by the Shoreline Christian School Society, a non-profit corporation. By attending this orientation and joining the Society, you'll have a voice in voting for school board members and other big issues that come up from time to time. In preparation for the class please review the  Society Handbook online or pick on up in the office.

Have a question about this evening or the SCS Society? Contact Tim Visser or Tassie DeMoney.

From the Blog: High School Culture

"Throughout our history, we have worked to develop healthy student learners. In the last number of years, a great deal of this work has involved trying to help balance work and life of students with intentional planning of tests and projects, monitoring workloads via homerooms, implementing Google apps to keep school and home connected, and giving students some control of their learning via Phenomenal Fridays and Marvelous Mondays. All of these efforts have met with some measure of success, though there is plenty of tweaking to be done to make them more effective."

Save the Date: Elementary Thanksgiving Feast!

Elementary parents have asked if we are planning to have the elementary Thanksgiving Feast celebration again this year. The answer is YES! Our Thanksgiving Feast will be held on Friday, November 17. Planning meetings will start the week of October 16. Be looking for more details in the next Charger News.
No School Oct. 5-6:
Teacher Convention

There will be no school on October 5-6 due to the annual Teacher Convention. The office will be closed those days as well.

If you need childcare for those days, please email Amy Hart to sign up.

Volunteers for Elementary Noon Playground Duty

Are you looking for ways to start collecting your volunteer hours?

Volunteering as an elementary noon playground parent is a great place to start.  Noon duty runs from 12:10 p.m. to 12:45 p.m each school day and counts as one full volunteer hour. Parents are asked to check in at the school office then pick up a badge in the elementary teachers lounge before heading outside. Each day we schedule one teacher and at least one parent to supervise noon playground duty.

If you are interested or have more questions please contact Char DeKoekkoek, Elementary Coordinator at  cdekoekkoek@shorelinechristian.org. She will send you a link to our sign up page. Thanks for considering!
