Cha rlotte Hall Veterans Home Opens Online Donation Portal

It's now easier than ever to help change the life of a Maryland veteran through the Charlotte Hall Veterans Home  online contribution page. Charlotte Hall is a program sponsored by the Maryland Department of Veterans Affairs, providing assisted living and skilled nursing, long-term care services to Maryland veterans and eligible spouses. Donations play an integral role in ensuring residents enjoy the comforts of life in or outside of the home. Medical services, final honors arrangements, and personal care items such as toiletries and clothing are some of the ways funds received support residents.

"W e realize that times have changed and when people are motivated to give, they want and expect to do so immediately, using their smartphone or by visiting the organizations webpage. We couldn't be more pleased to offer citizens, businesses, and other organizations the flexibility to express their support for our home in the way they see fit." said Sharon Mattia, Director of Charlotte Hall Veterans Home. "Donations help us help Maryland veterans and their spouses when they need it most. With the implementation of online donations, we are hopeful to extend our reach to help even more."

Prior to opening the online channel for donations, those wishing to support the home were required to complete a paper donation form, enclose a check and return it via mail or in person. The online donation page is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, accepting all major credit and debit cards, and electronic checks. Anyone wishing to make a monetary donation to Charlotte Hall Veterans Home can visit http://charhall.org

The Charlotte Hall Veterans Home donation application was developed for the state of Maryland at no cost by NIC Maryland, through the self-funded digital government services contract with the State Department of Information Technology (DoIT).

Updated Features
& Payment Options Makes it Easier to Do Business In Maryland

The Maryland State Department of Assessments and Taxation (SDAT) released a new version of Maryland Business Express including over a dozen updated features and introducing PayPal as a new payment option to make it easier to do business in the state.

Maryland Business Express is an award winning, multi-agency service that allows entrepreneurs and other business customers to complete and submit forms required to register a new business; create legal entities, register a trade name, establish tax accounts, as well as learn about State and county licenses. This one-stop business portal is citizen-focused, and streamlines the interaction with state government.

PayPal has been added as an additional payment option for charter filings, personal property filings and online document orders. The new payment method offers a secure transaction that is easy for customers to understand and navigate.

With the latest enhancements, filing submissions can include an optional alternate contact. Submission and approval emails may now be directed to the end-user instead of a power user or intermediary.  Reject emails may now be directed to the registered user with the alternate contact included as a carbon copy.

Through its partnership with NIC Maryland, SDAT has pushed to provide more online services for Marylanders through Maryland Business Express and the UCC Electronic Filing & Search portal. These portals have been nationally recognized as a "next-generation, best-of-breed digital government solution" (MBE) and a "State IT Innovation of the Year" (UCC).
