The city is currently taking applications until August 7 to serve on one of the many boards and commissions.
Their are currently open seats on the Building Codes and Standards Board, Cemetery Board, Library Board, Old Town Development Standards Review Committee, Park Board, Planning and Zoning Commission and Zoning Board of Adjustment.

Johnson Avenue Construction Update

|
Traffic has been switched to one-lane in each direction in front of
Nick Kerr Middle
School. Cars can travel on Johnson Ave until they reach Gamble Street where they will need to take the detour.
Patrons still have access to the Burleson Public Library, Warren Park and local businesses during the closure.
The full lane closure in front of the library and park is expected to last until approximately August 8.
*Note - Please do not use the the Library parking lot as a cut through, it is very dangerous due to the amount of parents and children that are walking into/out of the library.

Swimming Pool Water Discharge

|
Even though it is safe for you and your family to splash around in it, swimming pool water may contain significant levels of chlorine or other chemicals used in treating, disinfecting, or cleaning your swimming pool that can be harmful to aquatic organisms.
Anything discharged into storm drains, including swimming pool water, will eventually end up in the nearest creeks, streams or area lakes without being treated. Once in our waterways these substances may be toxic to aquatic life and wildlife. Additional treatment is also required to remove these pollutants from area lakes where we get our drinking water supply.

Burleson Fire offers additional life-saving services
|
|
Burleson Fire Department is pleased to announce that the department began offering Advanced Life Support (ALS) services on July 19.
The Burleson Fire Department previously offered Basic Life Support (BLS), with MedStar Mobile Healthcare providing ALS. There are 16 paramedics/firefighters that are divided among the shifts, and they will now be able to provide critical patients with advanced care before a MedStar ambulance arrives.
"ALS is a higher level of care," said captain/paramedic Casey Davis. "It will allow us to administer the different medications such as the first round of cardiac arrest drugs, pain medications, and sedation medications, along with cardiac monitoring and advanced airway intubation."

PD swears in new officers
|
|
Burleson PD welcomed three new officers to the ranks.
Whitney Meredith, Brett Meugniot and Shane Goff were sworn in and presented with their badges during the ceremony on July 13.
Family members, Chief Billy Cordell and Deputy Chief Doug Sandifer did the honors.
The badge ceremony for new police officers confirm that the new officer is about to become part of a very special family and that it's a privilege and an honor to wear the badge. The badge is earned, not given. The Burleson police department began in 1960.

Meet Brutus, a three-month-old lab/pit bull terrier mix. He loves to play and have fun!
Brutus' adoption fee: $85, which includes neuter, microchip, shots and rabies.
**The Burleson Animal Shelter is currently at capacity, so all pets are $85 or less.**

Tiffany and Jonathan Miller are this month's bank draft drawing winner! They were awarded a $100 credit to their City of Burleson utility account (water/trash/curbside recycling).The drawing is an incentive for utilizing the bank draft feature to pay your City of Burleson utility account. All customers who choose (or currently use) this option are entered into the monthly drawing.

Simply fill out an application online or stop by the Utility Customer Service office located at Burleson City Hall, 141 W. Renfro St., 8 a.m.-5 p.m., Monday-Friday.
