Howard County Economic Opportunity and Prosperity Task Force Has First Meeting
The Howard County Economic Opportunity and Prosperity Task Force had it's first meeting this Monday, called to order by the Task Forces' Co-Chairperson, and Chamber President/CEO, Leonardo McClarty. Councilman Jon Weinstein then described the purpose of the Task Force and what the expectations are. The Task Force was created to identify and study policies, programs, and potential legislation to facilitate economic growth and increase economic opportunities for individuals, businesses and organizations in Howard County, and to make recommendations to the Howard County Council and Howard County Executive. The full Task Force will meet every other month going forward, and the three subcommittees will meet during the other months. The goal is to formulate preliminary recommendations by the early fall of 2018.

Howard County Selected as Location for North American HQ for BTS Bioenergy
The Howard County Economic Development Authority and Howard County Executive Allan Kittleman joined officials from BTS Bioenergy today in Verona, Italy to announce the establishment of the company's North American headquarters and the planned development of two bio-digestions recycling facilities in Howard County.

Members Wanted for Howard County's Commission for Women
Howard County Executive Allan Kittleman is looking for applicants for the Commission for Women. The committee, comprised of twelve members, helps promote the economic, social and political equality of women in Howard County. Applications can be submitted to the County Executive for approval up until
November 10th.

Celebrate Our Community's Veterans at the Downtown Columbia Lakefront
Join Howard County Executive Allan Kittleman, the Columbia Association and the President of the Howard County Veterans Foundation for a celebration of our community's veterans at the Downtown Columbia Lakefront next Friday, November 10th from Noon to 1 p.m.

Blossoms of Hope Planting 100 Pink Trees in Downtown Columbia
Instead of setting out Halloween candy Tuesday afternoon, the Howard Hughes Corporation and Blossoms of Hope were out planting the first of 100 trees that will line the streets along the Merriweather District. The planting is the first initiative of a partnership between the Howard Hughes Corporation and Blossoms of Hope, and proceeds from the trees will help to benefit the Claudia Mayer/Tina Broccolino Cancer Resource Center and other local charities. The trees were planted by Howard EcoWorks, a Howard County nonprofit.
