Highlights
MFA Design Candidate Kelly Colburn Featured on URTA Blog

MFA Design candidate Kelly Colburn was featured as part of the blog's "Picture Yourself @" series on MFA programs:

" The lure of UMD’s MFA in Design is rooted in the fantastic resources of the tech shops, invaluable knowledge and experience of the faculty (in all facets- design, performance studies, acting, and dance), and the respect between the students and the administration. The classes are demanding and challenging but necessary in creating an intellectual and artistic toolbox to take out into the real world. Our mentors are working professionals and so we have the unique opportunity of assisting and learning from them not just in the classroom but outside of it ."
Review of Jonelle Walker and Leticia Ridley’s Second Season Blood Memories
in The Diamondback

MA candidates Jonelle Walker and Leticia Ridley had their recent Second Season show reviewed in The Diamondback: "Watching fellow students achieve their artistic visions is always a pleasure, but it is much more gratifying when what they produce is not only entertaining, but exceptional .... Our country's current political climate, filled with examples of bigotry, intolerance and frustration, made the two vastly different plays emerge as striking pieces of art."

Reminder: Call for   2017-2018 Second Season Proposals!

Do you have a production idea, but it's not quite ready for the Main Season?

It may be a perfect fit for the Second Season!

Second Season provides students with the opportunity to produce their own work in a TDPS space. We look for pieces in all states of development. Your idea doesn’t have to be ready to be “fully produced” to be considered.

Second Season is completely self-produced by the student. You find your own designers, director/choreographers, you cast your own performers, and recruit your own crew, and with a modest department-provided budget, you produce your own show! It is an exciting study in self-production.

This is an excellent opportunity to showcase that original dance piece you have been working on, or direct a play that you feel the department NEEDS to see, or do a staged reading of a play you are writing. As an example, this season, we are producing premieres by student playwrights, multimedia pieces, and several original dance pieces

Interested? Mark the proposal deadline - Monday, February 13, 2017 - in your calendar!

Before you fill out the application (PDF and Docx), please review the Second Season guidelines.

Email electronic submissions to Cate Barger at cbarger@umd.edu.
Place paper submissions in Cate Barger’s mailbox in the TDPS Mail Room.
