- Monday, December 12 (today!): The First Year Dance Grad Choreography Showing with Professor Sara Pearson will take place from 11:30am-1pm in Dance Studio 1, featuring MFA Dance candidates Ama Law, Stacey Carlson, Shawn Stone, and Christine Hands.
- Monday, December 12 (also today!): The UTAS Cabaret and Date Auction will take place at 7:30pm in the Cafritz Foundation Theatre. Come see your friends perform in this Vaudeville-themed night of wonder! In between performances, they will be auctioning off some fantastic dates and there will also be baked goods on sale.

“The Measure of Our Lives” at the National Portrait Gallery
The audience was invited to walk through the Gallery as the actors brought historical figures to life and shared their stories. Such figures included: Albert Einstein (

Leticia Ridley had their recent Second Season show
reviewed in The Diamondback: "Watching fellow students achieve their artistic visions is always a pleasure, but it is much more gratifying when what they produce is not only entertaining, but exceptional .... Our country's current political climate, filled with examples of bigotry, intolerance and frustration, made the two vastly different plays emerge as striking pieces of art."

Alumna Jessie Laurita-Spanglet selected for Duke Energy Regional Artist Project Award
Jessie Laurita-Spanglet (MFA Dance ‘14) received a Duke Energy Regional Artist Project Award from
the Art Council of Winston-Salem and Forsyth County. The grant award will allow her to obtain a camera and accessories to document her work as a dancer artist and choreographer which is essential in today’s high tech artistic profession. Read more about Jessie and the other awardees here.

TDPS Senior Adrianna David crowned Miss Maryland USA
As
reported by The Diamondback, Adrianna was crowned on November 6 and "[n]ow, the communication and theatre major is preparing to take the stage in this summer's Miss USA pageant." Read the article find out more about her platform and her non-profit organization

- Alumna Unissa Cruse-Ferguson (BA Dance ‘14) scored a place in the dance ensemble for Hairspray Live!, which aired on NBC last Wednesday, December 7. The Stamp hosted a viewing party that was presented by the University of Maryland and NBC4 Washington. Great job, Unissa!
- Congratulations to the undergraduate playwrights selected by the Dramatists Guild to participate in the TDPS New Play Workshop in February! The plays and playwrights are: The DMV by Kyle Patrick Travers, Dreenie by James Nelson, Martyr by Shuping Yang, Our Dead Dog by Alex Beveridge, This House by April Grace Monu, and Suckers by Coleman Quimby.
- MA candidate Jonelle Walker was interviewed by theatreWashington about her play TAME. at WSC Avant Bard in Arlington, VA.

Reminder: Call for
2017-2018 Second Season Proposals!
Do you have a production idea, but it's not quite ready for the Main Season?
It may be a perfect fit for the Second Season!
Second Season provides students with the opportunity to produce their own work in a TDPS space. We look for pieces in all states of development. Your idea doesn’t have to be ready to be “fully produced” to be considered.
Second Season is completely self-produced by the student. You find your own designers, director/choreographers, you cast your own performers, and recruit your own crew, and with a modest department-provided budget, you produce your own show! It is an exciting study in self-production.
This is an excellent opportunity to showcase that original dance piece you have been working on, or direct a play that you feel the department NEEDS to see, or do a staged reading of a play you are writing. As an example, this season, we are producing premieres by student playwrights, multimedia pieces, and several original dance pieces

Scholarships & Fellowships
- Undergraduate students: UMD Libraries is now accepting submissions for the Library Award for Undergraduate Research. As you are working on your research papers now, please consider submitting your final outstanding paper for one of the three $1,000 awards offered this year. More details available here.
- Juniors: The Beinecke Scholarship Program provides graduate study scholarships in the humanities and social sciences to juniors of exceptional, demonstrated academic ability who have a high degree of financial need as demonstrated by the FAFSA process. Learn more about the program and application process by contacting Dr. Leslie Brice at the National Scholarships Office.

Jobs & Auditions
- Lean & Hungry Theater is now hiring production positions for King Lear: production manager; stage manager; asstistant stage manager; and lighting, set, and costume designers. Rehearsal begins March 6; tech begins March 27; performances run through 4/24. Dates and application info are available here.
- The 39th annual StrawHat Auditions will take place March 17-19. The application deadline is February 1, but early submission is recommended. Registration for Staff/Tech/Design ends March 1. For more information, check out their flyer.
- The Library of Congress, Music Division is looking for a Producing and Company Management Intern for January 16, 2017 to May 20, 2017. The position is part-time, unpaid, with a possible extension into the summer. If interested, please email (PDF only) your resume, cover letter, and references to concerts@loc.gov with the subject “APPLICATION: Production Internship – Spring 2017".
- Seniors: Imagination Stage offers a one-year Professional Apprentice program to a select group of outstanding candidates who are seeking a career in theater and theater education. Click the linked flyer for more information!
- Vagabond Players are holding open auditions for their May/June, 2017 show, Phillip King's farce, See How They Run. They will be held at the Theatre on December 14-16 (Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday) at 7pm, and on Saturday, December 17, at 2:30pm, at the Theatre. Interested and have questions? - The Shakespeare Theatre Company seeks candidates for the position of Production Administrator. More information on their website.
- Thirsting Productions is in search for production roles for a 2017 Capital Fringe show tentatively titled Enjoying: co-producer, director, stage manager, stage crew (light and sound), operators and stagehands, lighting designer, set designer, makeup designer, and costume designer.
