On Watch in Washington / The Informer

December 7 , 2016

New Web site launches January 20th

How could the commanders in Hawaii be so unprepared when in Washington both the Army and Navy intelligence organizations had broken key Japanese diplomatic codes, including the high level "Purple" code in which Japan was conducting its peace negotiations with the United States? Whether the Japanese naval code "JN-25" was broken prior to the attack remains unknown.

On the 75th anniversary of Pearl Harbor, we remember the lives lost on that tragic day. The Lord is always just and gives us the opportunity to learn from our past mistakes. Pray for clear communication between our military leaders and discernment to stop future attacks.

"The Lord within her is righteous; he does no wrong. Morning by morning he dispenses his justice, and every new day he does not fail, yet the unrighteous know no shame." (Zeph. 3:5)

When I say the blue states are in a depression, I don't mean the collective funk they are in because they lost the election to Donald Trump.

I'm talking about an economic depression in the blue states that went for Hillary. Here is an amazing statistic. Of the 10 blue states that Hillary Clinton won by the largest percentage margins - California, Massachusetts, Vermont, Hawaii, Maryland, New York, Illinois, Rhode Island, New Jersey, and Connecticut - every single one of them lost domestic migration (excluding immigration) over the last 10 years (2004-14). Nearly 2.75 million more Americans left California and New York than entered these states.

Deuteronomy 28 speaks of the Lord's blessings for obedience to His commands. Pray for the new administration to seek His wisdom on how to create jobs, stabilize the economy, and reduce debt so that U.S. citizens will prosper.

"If you fully obey the Lord your God and carefully follow all his commands I give you today, the Lord your God will set you high above all the nations on earth." (Deut. 28:1)

Speaking to a raucous audience of thousands of supporters in Cincinnati, Ohio at the start of what his staff have billed as a "Thank you" tour of the American Midwest, Trump seemed to double down on key campaign promises about Muslim immigration and a wall on the Mexican border.

As America transitions from hearing campaign promises to hearing our new president's plan to execute those promises, pray that there is unity in the government and a willingness to put our country ahead of selfish agendas.  Pray also that there are pure motives behind every decision.

"But I tell you that everyone will have to give account on the day of judgment for every empty word they have spoken. For by your words you will be acquitted, and by your words you will be condemned." (Matt. 12:36-37)

MOVING THE U.S. EMBASSY TO JERUSALEM:
A GREAT OPPORTUNITY FOR THE NEW PRESIDENT

Moving the U.S. embassy from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem would be a good example of the kind of policy change that President-Elect Donald Trump has said is needed in Washington. More importantly, this action could mark a new US strategy for pursuing Israeli-Palestinian peace: Telling the truth.

The U.S. State Department, which has always opposed moving the US embassy in Israel from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem, understands very well that any peace agreement between Israel and the Palestinians will leave at least western Jerusalem as Israel's capital and part of sovereign Israel. So why will the State Department nevertheless advise President-Elect Donald Trump not to fulfill his promise to move the embassy?

Many presidential candidates have promised to move the U.S. embassy in Israel to Jerusalem, but have not followed through. As President-elect Trump navigates this diplomatic move, pray that he never forgets God's promises about this holy city and stands with Israel throughout this process.

"Then I saw 'a new heaven and a new earth,' for the first heaven and the first earth had passed away, and there was no longer any sea. I saw the Holy City, the new Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God, prepared as a bride beautifully dressed for her husband." (Rev. 21:1-2)

'EXPENDABLE' CHRISTIANS
'VICTIMS OF ORGAN HARVESTING' IN CHINA

Gutmann, who has written two books about China and published several reports, said as many as 100,000 organ transplants may be taking place annually in the country, despite the Chinese government's claims it administers only 10,000.

Continue to pray for the persecuted Church in nations where human rights' violations are escalating. Pray for ungodly leadership to be held accountable for these violations, and for Christians to be able to worship freely.

"Blessed is the one who perseveres under trial because, having stood the test, that person will receive the crown of life that the Lord has promised to those who love him." (James 1:12)
