Just as a body, though one, has many parts, but all its many parts form one body, so it is with Christ. 1 Corinthians 12: 12

December 9, 2016

Dear North Community Catholic School Families:
As I type this I am watching the snow fly outside my window.  Winter is here!  Please be advised that the students go outside if the wind chill factor is above 20 degrees.  We haven't been outside for a few days, but it is important that the students have warm coats, hats, gloves, boots, etc.  I have seen students coming to school in just a sweat shirt, and they have to be freezing!  I have heard more snow is going to accumulate over the weekend.  Remember that our school follows Washington Local for closings and delays.

Thursday evening, December 15, is our annual Christmas Program.  It is at 7:00 p.m. in the Stoiber-Holzer gym.  This event is always well attended, so you will want to arrive with time to spare.  Directives about clothes, time to arrive, etc. will come from your child's teacher.

One of the parts of my day that I enjoy is supervision in the lunchroom.  I like having a chance to just walk around and talk with students.  I have noticed, however, that students often ask us for forks, spoons, cups, plates, etc.  School cannot furnish all of these items for students. We do have napkins for spills, but please be sure that your child's lunch includes any utensils and such that he or she may need.
Our last day of school before Christmas vacation is Tuesday, December 20.  Dismissal that day is at 11:30 a.m., so please be sure to make transportation arrangements for your child.  There will be no extended day that day.  The buses will be running, though.

I hope you all enjoy a cozy winter weekend!  I have a feeling the students may be putting those pajamas on inside out, flushing the ice cubes, and whatever other rituals they may have to encourage a snow day!

Peace and Blessings,
Mrs. Beth Strbik
Principal

SCRIP
Shopping for groceries, filling the tank with gas, eating at a favorite restaurant....These routine things we do every week have proven to be a great way for Blessed Sacrament parents to shave off money from their child's tuition.  You purchase gift cards or certificates from places you shop at anyway and the discount goes back to your child's tuition.  More than 200 local businesses participate in the SCRIP program.  Families who purchase the certificates can designate that their portion be applied to their tuition bill.  To purchase SCRIP, contact Katie at [email protected] or phone her at 419-438-0476.

Recycleable Collection Items

"The Environmental Club would like to remind you that we collect the following items to send to Terracycle in exchange for money.  The money earned is used for supplies for our Religion classes and to purchase peanut butter, jelly, and bread for the lunchroom for students who forget their lunch.  We have listed the items acceptable to recycle.  Please send them in with your child.  We ask that you continue saving the items during the summer vacation.  Thank you to those who have been assisting us already."
