Native American
Celebration
WHEN: November 18
WHERE: LaBoiteaux Woods Nature Preserve
TIME: 10 am - 3 pm
10am - Noon: Adults and youth ages 14 and up gain hands-on experience participating in Native American lifestyle skills from the past and present such as fire building, cooking and a make-n-take project. Camping & Education Foundation staff assist.
1 - 3pm: Families with young children ages 4 - 13 discover the lifestyles of early Native American tribes of this area by playing games, participating in simulation activities, sampling food and making a craft. Engaging fun for all!
Fee: $5 per person or $15 per family (up to 3 children and 2 adults). Call 542-2909 by Nov 16 for more information and paid reservations.

EVENT: Harvest Day Camp

WHERE: Avon Woods Nature Preserve
TIME: 9 am - 1 pm
Travel back in time to the first Thanksgiving. We'll learn about the exciting and difficult voyage of the Mayflower as well as play some traditional games from the 1600's. Our hike will include stops along the way where we'll have historical challenges to overcome. Pack a lunch and drink, and dress for the weather. Fee: $15 per child.

WHERE: California Woods Nature Preserve
(Inclement weather date: Dec 2 - 12 - 3pm)
TIME: 6 - 8 pm
Families and adults can follow a beautiful, luminaria-lit trail on a leisurely self-guided walk through the forest. Decorate your own home-baked holiday cookies, make crafts, listen to storytelling at the cabin and sit by a crackling fire to enjoy lively acoustic music by Ceol Mhor. Sponsored by the California Woods Advisory Council. Fee: $6 per person.
