ROSH CHODESH SCAVENGER HUNT

On Rosh Chodesh Kislev the student council realized that Chanukah was at the end of the month and we wanted to do something fun at the beginning too.We set up a scavenger hunt for the seventh and eighth graders to participate in.
We had nine clues leading to nine different rooms and each team had a different route to go find them all. At the end, it led to the Beit Midrash where we had donuts, ice coffee and hot chocolate for everyone to enjoy. It was such a special Rosh Chodesh treat. It was so much fun!
Although it was a little bit hectic, it was still really fun and everyone got to enjoy the special treat. The student council hopes to make many more successful programs and events in the upcoming months. Since this was our first event, we learned how we could improve in the future and make the next event even better!

7TH GRADE TRIP TO POWERHOUSE STUDIOS

On November 28, the seventh grade had their annual trip to Powerhouse Studios.  The coach busses arrived on time and we were on our way.  When we entered the Studios, the lights were flashing and then a couple of minutes later cool music came on and the DJ came out.  There were so many different events.  There was on where you had a contraption around your waist and you had to get a little ball in the hoop.  There was another event where you "made chicken soup."  The students raced each other in who could pump up and burst the balloon fastest.  There so many hilarious events.  Of course, the highlight of the event was the "booger blaster" (you will have to ask the kids about it) and pieing people in the face.  The event also served as a great time to bond with our friends.  Thank you to Morah Klein for organizing the event and to our chaperones: Morah Hakimian, Rabbi Olshan, Mr. Potok, and Rabbi Hecht .

BOYS' BASKETBALL
"Sometimes you learn more from losing than winning. Losing forces you to reexamine" - Pat Summitt
The boys middle school basketball team has faced some difficult challenges over the early season. The team has played hard and has not lost focus of the goal to win, however, have been bit by the third quarter bug. In the last three games Hanc was trailing by single digits at the half only to fall further behind in the third. The team is lead on offence by Moshe Kaheni who is averaging over 30 points a game. The defense is lead by a trio of hard nosed defensive forces in Mordechei Strauss, Baruch Kutner, and Kane Calderone. Anywhere you look on this team you will find players with confidence and a desire to play hard..   "Working hard is one thing, but working hard with purpose is what separates the good from the great" - Thad Matta, This is a team that when on the court plays hard and hustles. We are looking forward to building our skills in our upcoming practices in order to achieve greater outcomes.  The team is learning how to play as a unit and hopefully shortly will learn to win as a unit. Looking forward to the next newsletter discussing victories and achievements.

GIRLS' BASKETBALL
The girls middle school basketball team started off their season at home this Tuesday against North Shore. With 6 girls scoring, Grace Herschberg, Nili Kushner, Caitlin Davis, Aviva Ciment, Emily Keehn and leading all scorers Miriam Reitano with  8 points. This was a great start to the season, unfortunately we fell short 20-24. The next game will be December 19th.

BOYS' HOCKEY
The Hanc Hurricanes hockey team has played with a great amount of effort and emotion so far.  The team tied with Barkai in its season opener, and then lost a heart breaker to Har Torah in overtime.  The team's defense has played marvelously, and on offense, Ariel Schwartzman and Yoni Schneider are both tied for the team's lead in goals.
