Journey Through the Bible

2017 will be an exciting time for the Oxford Presbyterian Church family!

Nearly two hundred years ago, the first Presbyterian congregation in Oxford formed in 1818.  In preparation for this first bicentennial celebration, we will take a Journey Through the Bible.  The centerpiece of this journey is an invitation to everyone in our church family to read scripture, meet together for a Bible Study, gather for forums on moral themes in the Bible and in our times, and engage intergenerational mission activities in our community throughout the year.

Join Pastor Lawrence for a brief informational gathering about Journey through the Bible on Sunday, December 11 right after the very short Congregational Meeting following worship.

Comfort My People:
A Time of Hope and Prayer in a Season of Darkness

As we approach the longest night of the year, we are particularly mindful of all among us who are grieving or struggling this Advent and Christmas.  As a result, we set aside time to come together before the Lord in the midst of that pain.  All are welcome to gather for prayerful worship of Emmanuel, the light of the world, who is with us even in the darkness.

You are invited to a special worship service at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday, December 15th at Holy Trinity Episcopal Church.  Led by Pastor Sara from Holy Trinity and Pastor Lawrence from OPC, "Comfort My People" will be a time of scripture, prayers, and music that acknowledges God's presence is for those who mourn, for those who struggle - and that the Word comes to shine light into our darkness.

Christmas Joy Offering

God's promise of salvation, made to each of us, and kept with the birth of Jesus, has changed countless lives.  Through the Christmas Joy Offering we make and keep two promises of our own: to church workers through assistance in their time of need and to racial ethnic education/leadership development.  Each of these two promises is kept by giving to the Christmas Joy Offering, which will be taken up on Christmas Eve, December 24.  Each gift has the power to change lives.
Your Stewardship Matters

When we cast our bread upon the waters,
we can presume that someone downstream
whose face we may never see
will benefit from our action,
even as we enjoy the gifts to us
from a donor upstream.
