Effective January 1st 2018 PWD recipients will receive a $52 increase to their monthly benefits. This increase comes in the form of a new transportation supplement. People with the PWD designation who receive a monthly bus pass and those without a monthly bus pass will both get this $52 increase.
The change in the maximum rate for shelter, support, and transportation for a single person will be:

DABC is extremely pleased with this change and congratulates the Honourable Shane Simpson, Minister for Social Development and Poverty Reduction, for his leadership. The new transportation supplement will help improve the financial security and independence of many British Columbians with disabilities.
Additional Information
- The BC Bus Pass can be used in both BC Transit and TransLink areas.
- People receiving PWD can continue to switch between a bus pass and cash transportation supplement on a monthly basis.
- People receiving the Comforts Allowance and Room and Board benefits will also receive this increase.

Alex and Val enjoyed a trip to the pumpkin patch on a bright, sunny fall day to find the perfect pumpkin for their home.

Patterson House got into the spirit of Halloween; Shirley dressed up as a good witch, Susie as a cat, and Ken had a few costumes to choose from!

Henry House enjoyed celebrating three birthdays in October for Robert, Doug, and Steven. Families and staff all joined in on the fun and had a great time!

Amelia House has enjoyed the AMAZING weather October had to offer. Cory has been out in the yard basking in the sun while the ladies have been enjoying walks into Sidney, stops at the Rose Garden and lunches down by the water.
Kim has been keeping busy with making crafts, baking and visiting some of her old high school friends. Jennifer has been keeping active with walking, physiotherapy appointments and massage therapy appointments. The ladies will be back at the pool next month once one of our permanent day staff returns.
Cory has been sure enjoying the sun and getting out for long walks, lunches and dinners out, and hanging out in the front yard. He does NOT want this lovely weather to end.
Kate keeps busy with her day program and enjoys daily outings into Victoria and visits with family and friends.
Yesterday brought a lot of trick or treaters to our neck of the woods and the gang enjoyed handing out candies to all of the little ghosts and goblins.

Futures Club News
October was a busy month at Futures Club! Everyone enjoyed a lunch outing to the new Mr. Mikes in Langford. They also participated in bowling, visited The Raptors bird sanctuary in Duncan, enjoyed a Halloween costume party, and Gabe proudly displayed the silver medal he won at the National Bocce Championships!
