Make Hanukkah Happy for Wilton Jewish Families!
Here's a way to make a difference this Hanukkah for some needy Jewish Wilton families. Through the good works of the Wilton Department of Social Services, we've been asked to support several Jewish Wilton families who celebrate Hanukkah by providing a $100 Gift Card for each of 15 children in these families. Think about all the gifts you give to your children each year...and then think about how you could really make a difference for these families.
All you have to do is click on
http://bit.ly/tbctzdon and donate what you can to the TBC Tzedakah (Social Action) Fund and indicate the donation is for "Make Hanukkah Happy for All Kids!" Our Social Action Committee will purchase the gift cards and deliver them to Wilton Department of Social Services.

Join Rabbi Bearman and the Jewish community of Ridgefield as they light a giant menorah and celebrate Hanukkah in Ballard Park on December 26th.

Great Articles on Our Wi-ACT Refugee Family
A number of TBC members have been participating in the Wi-ACT initiative to help and support a Syrian refugee family in Wilton. Two excellent articles came out in the last week giving updates on the family and how they've been faring. (Spoiler alert: well!)

Volunteer information for Jewish Senior Services
Please call or email Ellen Ashkins if you are interested in volunteering at JSS. There are many wonderful volunteering opportunities including one-to-
one visits, writing letters, transporting residents to activities, and hospice care. At JSS, giving back to the community is not just a cliché, but a way of life.
New Hospice Training Program! The goal is to have trained Hospice volunteers in clusters all over Fairfield County so that when the need presents itself, volunteers do not have to travel far. Chaifetz Family Hospice will be holding a two day Hospice Volunteer Training Program for anyone interested in giving their time and compassion to terminally ill patients and their loved ones. Training will be held at Jewish Senior Services, 4200 Park Avenue, Bridgeport, CT on Sunday, February 5th and Sunday, February 12th from 9:00 am-4:30 pm. Training materials and meals will be provided free of charge. If you would like to sign up or to learn more about hospice training, please contact Ellen Ashkins at (203) 365-6417 or by email at

TBC Social Action - Help Haiti for Hanukkah!
Hurricane Matthew devastated Haiti in early October, killing more than 900 people, leaving 175,000 people homeless and a million more struggling to survive.
TBC Social Action is encouraging donations to
Medical Aid To Haiti (MATH), a group of surgeons, nurses and others based at St. Francis Hospital in Hartford who are providing significant help on the ground in Haiti. Peggy and Steve Zamore worked at a small hospital in Haiti last year and have been following the truly terrible aftermath.
A video providing more detail about the situation is available
here. A donation to
MATH is the best way to help provide food, water and other help to the desperate people affected by this disaster.

Buy Grocery Cards - Help Support TBC!
Stop & Shop, Caraluzzi's, and Stew Leonard's have agreed to sell the Temple gift cards at a discount of 5-10%. Our congregants purchase the gift cards (they look just like credit cards) from the Temple at face value and use them as cash when shopping at the participating supermarkets. They may be purchased in increments of $100. Please email
certificates@templebnaichaim.org if you have any questions and to purchase the cards.
