Fall/Winter Community Guide

The 2nd session of Fitness classes start October 30.  
Plus Pet & Parent, Arts & Culture, Kidproof At Home Alone, Youth Cooking Club, Red Cross Babysitters classes start this month. For those who love the game of volleyball, the 3&3 Co-Ed Volleyball League starts October 16. Check out the Community Guide for details or browse through the Programs Calendar.

Annual Membership has its privileges
Being an annual member not only gives you access to all the amenities the Abbey has to offer, and also provides:
  • Early registration for all programs
  • Two complimentary day passes upon membership
    renewal or activation
  • Unlimited access to drop-in fitness and aqua-fit classes
    Abbey Centre Membership
  • Eligibility for electronic funds transfer (EFT) program
  • Ability to "hold" membership up to twice a membership year. Certain restrictions do apply.

Remembrance Day

This is not a Town event and is organized by the Blackfalds Ministerial Association.

Service begins at 10:45. Parking is limited, so please arrive early. Most of the service will be indoors but a brief ceremony will take place outdoors at the cenotaph. Warm clothing is recommended.

Entertainment will feature Christmas carols by the Iron Ridge Junior Campus choir at approx. 6:45, a short speech by our sponsor and a few words from the chair of the Recreation, Culture & Parks Board who will start the countdown starts 7:00 p.m. sharp.

Programs & Classes
Get Amped for CAMPED

C'AMPED for kids ages 6-10 is home away from home on PD days and Spring Break. Synchronized with the Wolf Creek & Red Deer Catholic school calendars, the Abbey Centre is the place to be.
Camps are jam-packed with games, crafts, sports and adventure that will keep kids active and stimulated throughout the day from 8:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.
$35/day. Extended care (drop off at 8:00 a.m. and pick up at 5:00 p.m.) is available for $5.

The Abbey Centre offers weekly drop-in Fitness classes that are included with a membership or paid admission.



Food Services
Our Menu Has Changed

Our concession is open for business and better than ever! Some new additions to our menu include: 
  • Pulled Pork Sandwich - pulled pork mixed with house made BBQ sauce topped with coleslaw.
  • Dyno Dog - hot dog with cream cheese and jalapenos wrapped in a spring roll wrapper.
  • Spicy Thai Edemame Salad - multi colored peppers, lettuce, onions, seeds, Edamame and spicy Thai peanut dressing.
  • Tuna Melt - tuna salad topped with melted cheese, served on a toasted bun.
Shaker Cards

Like protein shakes?  Make sure to check them out at Food Services and start your reward card. Purchase 9 shakes and get your 10th one FREE!  Also, for the first 80 people to start a card you will also get a shaker cup - it will come in really handy when you make your shakes at home.

Border Paving Fitness Centre
Free Fitness Centre Orientations

We offer FREE daily fitness centre orientations. Youth 12 - 17 years of age must have an orientation in order to access the Fitness Centre or Running Track.
Please book your orientation in advance by calling 403.885.4039 or email Guest Services.

Registration will be closed 20 minutes prior to the scheduled times.

  • The Abbey Centre is a family friendly facility and clothing should be appropriate for all ages. Please NO sport bras, short shorts, deep scoop tank tops, bare chests or exposed midrifs. Clean, dry shoes are required in the Fitness Centre and Field House.
