Reminder: this Saturday, November 4th is the first of the two Fall Preview Events. Please have your volunteers arrive to the BioSciences Complex between 8:30-8:45am to locate their booth and get settled in. As usual, there will be tea, coffee and timbits provided for all department volunteers. The fair runs until 2:00pm; please ensure your booth is staffed right up until then and that no booths are dismantled prior. After 2pm, volunteers are free to go and our team will take care of clean-up. If you sent any 3D objects or table supplies please make sure your volunteers take those with them.

Thank you for your participation.
DegreesDegree Plus Event

Spread the word about the first annual Degree Plus event - happening November 14th from 4-7pm on the first floor of Stauffer Library.

Similar to Majors Night, this event is designed to expose students to the abundant academically oriented opportunities available to them at Queen's, but instead of focusing on their Arts and Science major/minor, it will showcase all the ways in which they can augment their degree plan as an upper-year student - regardless of home Faculty. It's a chance to talk about the valuable 5-year plan and showcase some of our offerings, like the Castle and Certificates, to non-FAS students as well.

With representation from the Faculty of Arts and Science, the International Programs Office, the Bader International Study Centre, Certificate programs, Inquiry At Queen's, the ASUS Undergraduate Research Hub, QICSI, and the Queen's Undergraduate Internship Program, this event will allow students to learn more about the services offered by each of our partners that will help them to be more competitive upon graduation and enable them to have a more thoroughly enriching and transformational experience at Queen's.

FeedbackFeedback Requested - Undergraduate Orientation Review Working Group

Principal Daniel Woolf announced the formation of a working group to conduct a review of undergraduate orientation. The review will seek ways of making undergraduate orientation more welcoming and inclusive for all members of the Queen's community.
The Undergraduate Orientation Review Working Group will consult with the Queen's community, look to best practices at other institutions, and articulate a vision for orientation that achieves shared goals around community building, inclusivity, safety, accessibility and responsibility. The Task Force will report back to Principal Woolf with their comprehensive recommendations no later than March 2018.

You are invited to share feedback that you believe will help the Group to work toward its mandate. Find out how on their  websitePlease do not hesitate to contact orientation.review@queensu.ca  to coordinate your feedback or if you have any questions.
TimekeepersMandatory Training for Timekeepers

Over the last several months, Human Resources has been working to ensure that vacation taken by employees is accurately entered into the University's Time and Labour System in the Human Resources PeopleSoft System (HRPS), and that overall vacation balances accurately reflect vacation balances owed to employees. As part of the meetings and discussions on vacation reporting with various departments, faculties, and shared service units across the University, there was a clearly identified need for additional training to support Timekeepers in accurately entering time, particularly vacation time in HRPS. As a result, Human Resources will be conducting training for Timekeepers.  Read more about sessions and registration here
Please note that attendance at one of the sessions is mandatory for all Timekeepers.
