Nominate your favorite educator today!  The Apple Awards is the Douglas County School District's premier awards ceremony. Created in 2006, the Awards provide an opportunity to recognize and celebrate both excellent teachers and the outstanding contribution of Douglas County School District staff. The event is organized by the Douglas County Educational Foundation and proceeds from the ceremony benefit DCSD classrooms.

Last year, 2,100 DCSD educators and staff members were nominated by the community. The 2017 Apple Awards nomination window has been extended to nine weeks to encourage even more participation. Additionally, the Apple Awards ceremony is being moved to May.

CONGRATULATIONS, WORD WARRIORS!

In order to become a Word Warrior, these first graders have to know  the first 400 sight words. This is double what they need to know by the end of the year, and these students accomplished this in the first trimester! They celebrated by having cocoa and stories with Mr. Howard! Way to go, Word Warriors!
