Palm Beach will have at least one contested race for Town Council in next year's election. North End resident Julie Araskog announced late Friday that she is running for the Group 2 seat held by Michael Pucillo.

Town Square Project Finished, Aside from Touch-ups
With the tabby sidewalks hardened and crosswalk signs installed, the final phase of the Town Square renovation project is finished. And, to the relief of drivers, all four lanes in the two-block area are open.

Palm Beach Student Encourages Town to Ban Plastic Balloons, Bags

Palm Beach officials took a big step forward this week in trying to make the town plastic-free.

The Ordinances, Rules and Standards Committee recommended Thursday that the town send a resolution to Florida lawmakers asking them to give local governments the power to ban single-use plastic bags. Current law prohibits municipalities from regulating plastic bags.

Sleepy Palm Beach and neighboring West Palm Beach have awakened to a wave of new residential development. In 2018, Palm Beach, the tony enclave known for multimillion-dollar estates, becomes home to the 30-unit 3550 South Ocean (from $2.3 million) - the first residential edifice to rise there in over a decade.
