Australia's Tropical Rainforests cover approximately 900,000 square hectares and are internationally recognised as being one of the most ecologically fascinating natural areas in the world, as one of few remaining truly pristine tropical rainforest places on the planet. These forests contain an amazing array and diversity of flora and fauna. Stretching for over 500 kilometres along Tropical North Queensland's coastline, these rainforests are the oldest continually surviving rainforests on earth and once covered the entire Australian continent

Visitors to Skyrail Rainforest Cableway in Tropical North Queensland are fascinated by the ever growing spider webs that are popping up around our Terminals and Stations. These get plenty of attention and are the subject of many photos on a daily basis as there could be hundreds of spiders in any given web location.

The Dome Tent spider builds a large dome-shaped web from 30-60cm across with a long tangle of web above the dome and a small tangle below. Read the full story and learn more Australian rainforest facts here on the Skyrail blog.
