All Saints is a special day at St. Margaret's. I think one of the unspoken values of our church is that we remember our dead. When someone's physical presence leaves this mortal coil, we send them out well: funerals are a specialty of ours. But it's not just the trappings or the liturgy. It's the feeling that exists in this community that we are all part of something bigger than ourselves, or even the sum of the parts. The power of our communion comes from our interconnectedness and interdependence, and through those, God is made present in the world. This is what is special about  All Saints in our community.

This Sunday, please come to the fellowship hall between services to learn more about legacy giving and ways to include St. Margaret's in your estate plans. If you do so, you will automatically become a member of our All Saints Legacy Society, which already numbers twenty members, with forty more expressing interest. Won't you join them in giving to St. Margaret's and ensuring the legacy of this great community?
Dixieland Mass on Nov. 5

A favorite annual service based on the joyous music of traditional old hymns in New Orleans fashion.

REMINDER--
Legacy Gifts Forum on Nov. 5

A number of parishioners have expressed an interest in learning more about providing financial legacy gifts to St. Margaret's. We will host a forum on Sunday, Nov. 5, 10:20 a.m. in the Fellowship Hall to discuss the many ways to leave a legacy of your faith for the future of St. Margaret's. Please join us.
Thank You from the Stewardship Team!

The Stewardship team greatly appreciates everyone who made their pledge by the Oct. 27th deadline. The campaign has raised $820,386, which is 92% of our $890,000 goal, and helps St. Margaret's properly plan next year's budget.
If you forgot to pledge before the deadline or needed a little more time, you can still submit a pledge online by clicking here: SMC 2018 PLEDGE.
Thank you for your generous support of St. Margaret's!
There are a few spaces left for crafters/vendors. Contact Judy Hall at [email protected]

Thanksgiving Meal Donations

Thanksgiving angels are needed! Members of the parish once again are asked to provide holiday meals to needy neighbors. We have received names and addresses from Broadneck Elementary School and the AA County Dept. of Social Services of neighbors on the Broadneck Peninsula needing help purchasing their holiday dinner. Our list includes seniors and families with children. The Missions Commission will provide the turkeys, but we ask parishioners to provide the ingredients for the rest of the meal and deliver the food basket to the recipient a few days BEFORE Thanksgiving Day.  No cooking involved. Turkeys and baskets will be available for pick-up in the Parish Hall on Sunday, Nov. 19, or by separate arrangement. In advance, you will receive the name of your recipient and delivery instructions. To volunteer, contact Barbara Marder at [email protected] or 410-518-9978.

Youth Group Report

Adult volunteers are still needed to help out with youth group meetings on Monday evenings, as well as various activities throughout the year. Please contact our Youth Ministry Leader Jeff Conover at [email protected] if you can assist with chaperoning and/or mentoring these great teens!

A Note from Jeff --
Last Monday evening at Youth Group we discussed decision making and daily stress, and specifically the particular challenges facing teens that most adults have literally  "grown out of. "  As part of our discussion, we watched a video on YouTube that discusses the special challenges teens face because of the pace of brain development in young people.  I would encourage anyone who is a teen, has a teen, will have a teen, knows a teen, or ever was a teen themselves, to watch this video.  It provides a refreshing perspective if you have ever wondered,  "Why did my teen do ....? "  It is presented in a humorous way, but it is loaded with good, solid information on teenagers and brain development.

You can find the video at  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-KQb3Mx2WMw  (BTW, ignore the first 4 seconds.  It is YouTube, so who knows?)

Advent Wreathmaking on Sunday, Nov. 26
We will use this Sunday after Thanksgiving as a time to prepare for celebrating the Advent season with family wreathmaking in the Parish Hall. Clippings of Christmas greens would be appreciated (place at the Parish Hall door before 8:30 a.m. that Sunday morning). We thank the Tomko family for hosting this event. They will need help with set up and clean up that day.

Advent Lessons & Carols on Dec. 3
As we begin our spiritual preparation for the birth of Jesus at Christmas, join us for this traditional service sung by the choirs of St. Margaret's. Readings from Holy Scripture, seasonal hymns and choral anthems will prepare us for the promised coming of the Messiah.

RE:Thinking Advent with the Rev. Peter Mayer
The Rev. Peter will be leading an interactive discussion of three components to help us re-think what the Advent season can mean for all of us. The discussions will take place during coffeehour (10:20-11 a.m.) in the Fellowship Hall on Dec. 3, 10, & 17.

Advent Through the Psalms
The Rev. Rhetta Wiley will explore the tradition of praying the Psalms, first examining their composition and formation into the Psalter, then the range of Jewish and Christian interpretation, and finally discussing how to claim the psalms for ourselves and take our place in the ongoing community of psalmic prayer. The program will be the adult formation program for Faith & Fellowship Monday events at 6:45 p.m. on Dec. 4, 11, and 18.
Thursday Morning Bible Study

This year's study will center on Forward Movement's publication "The Path" - the story of the Bible, excerpted from the New Revised Standard Version so that it is clear and easy to read. Participants will follow the path of God's love all the way from the beginning to the end, from Adam's creation to John's revelation.
