A Message from Religious School Principal, Lois Tompkins

Details of Dec. 18: Mitzvah Day!

Kindergarten and 1st grade students:  River Garden
We are scheduled to sing Hanukkah songs (with Hazzan Holzer) from 10:45 until 11:30, and will return to the JJC by noon.  Please be sure to fill out the permission slip form and return on the 11th. Our kids have been learning songs with the Cantor!

Grade 1 and 2: We'll be making cards for the IDF (the Israeli army), which will be sent to Israel. We will provide guidance in what to write, and our Hebrew teachers will assist with some suitable Hebrew greetings!

We are getting ready for Hanukkah!

Grades 4 and 5:  will work on Hope/Mitzvah Bags, which will be distributed among our school families.

Middle School students (grades 6 and 7)  will be taking a trip to the Sulzbacher Center on January 8.  Our students will interact with children who are currently living at the homeless shelter.  Dec. 18 will be used as a planning day; we will learn about this wonderful organization, and decide together how to best teach about Tu B'Shvat and Tikkun Olam (repairing the world).  They will also assist the younger classes with their mitzvah projects.

ALL FAMILIES: Please help us out by bringing donations into the Religious School office in the next week.  You can find the list in the "tidbits" box below!

Thank you for helping to make this a successful and informative day for our children.

B'Shalom (with peace),
Lois
