Learning Tidbit of the Week
Parshah of the Week: Va-yera
God sends three messengers to visit Abraham, confirming that Sarah will indeed give birth to a son.  They also announce the destruction of Sodom.  Abraham challenges this decree, but when his conditions can't be met, God destroys Sodom.  Isaac is born.  In response to Sarah's demand, Abraham banishes Ismael.  God then tests Abraham's devotion by commanding him to sacrifice his beloved Isaac.

If you enjoy learning about the weekly parsha, why not join a new Adult Education class that is geared directly towards families?
Parsha Class
Join Marci Rogozen on Mondays, beginning November 21 at 12:15 pm in the  Henry & Miriam Kramer Library as we explore each week's Torah portion. There will be opportunities to address questions relating to modern issues, family dynamics, and personal dilemmas. See how the Torah is made relevant through midrash (interpretive narrative), halacha (Jewish law), and even science. This class presumes no prior background. There will be plenty to learn at all levels. Perfect for parents wanting  to parallel their children's learning, and for those seeking personal growth and knowledge.
