Moonglow by Michael Chabon
From the Jewish slums of prewar South Philadelphia to the invasion of Germany, from a Florida retirement village to the penal utopia of New York's Wallkill Prison, from the heyday of the space program to the twilight of the American Century, Moonglow collapses an era into a single life and a lifetime into a single week. A lie that tells the truth, a work of fictional non-fiction, an autobiography wrapped in a novel disguised as a memoir, Moonglow is Chabon at his most daring, his most moving, his most Chabonesque. |

Overview
by Benjamin Grant
MARIANNE'S PICK
|
"The author was inspired by the Overview Effect: the universality of experience that astronauts have upon viewing the whole of earth from space and seeing it's interconnectedness in a way few of us will be fortunate enough to experience. This book shows pictures of earth from above via satellite images, but not necessarily in ways we've come to expect. It can be fun to try and identify what you're looking at before you read the blurb."

SOS CHRISTMAS ANGEL TREE
PROGRAM
How the program works:
The Angel Tree program helps stock the SOS Toy Shop where parents, grandparents and caregivers can shop for free for their children. Visit a local participating business in mid-November and December and you'll discover an SOS Angel Tree.
The gifts listed on these Angels have been identified as "that one special gift" that a child or youth is hoping for.
Purchase the gift listed on one of the Angel ornaments (or as close to it as possible), attach the Angel to your unwrapped gift and return it to the business location to ensure it is included in the gift distribution
We are happy to be participating in the SOS Angel Tree Program again this year.
We stock all the Angel Tree book selections and are pleased to be able to donate several boxes of books to help fill the shelves of the SOS store.
Click here for more information on this program.
