DHS selected as Foster America pilot site

Over the next year, the Allegheny County Department of Human Services (DHS) will participate in Foster America, an innovative national program designed to use the knowledge and unique skills of talented professionals from the business, public health, and education sectors to address pressing issues in the child welfare system.
Local youth named a Jim Casey Young Fellow

Maryana, a 20-year-old participant in the DHS Executive Office’s Independent Living Initiative, was recently selected as a Jim Casey Young Fellow, joining 11 other former foster youth from around the country for the fellowship’s leadership and advocacy training.
Trauma Think Tank

Recognizing the tremendous impact of trauma on those served by DHS, a new Trauma Think Tank has been established to ensure staff and partner organizations are informed and comfortable around the topics of trauma, resiliency, and wellness
