Facebook has been busy reminding us that the end of 2016 is approaching - and with that reminder - sending its users small photo collages of our most recent trips around the sun. Who can resist reviewing and reveling in the events of the past 365 days? This electronic, nostalgic look-back is a helpful reminder of accomplishments and celebrations for individuals and for organizations like JFCS!

GIVE2016: A time for year-end gratitude and giving

The end of the year is a time of celebration for many. Parties, food, friends, holiday celebrations and perhaps some travel.

At JFCS we are grateful for all that we have to celebrate, but we know that for some, this time of year poses significant and unique challenges. So, as 2016 comes to a close, while we celebrate the success of having served nearly 16,000 people in the Jewish and broader community, we continue to respond to requests for help without interruption.

Through year-end support, we partner with our donors to ensure that we are poised to address ever-increasing needs as we head into 2017. Gifts made to JFCS are used to provide nearly 40 programs and services to people of all backgrounds. Our success is measured by the stories of those who are feeling less isolated, those who are feeling more support and encouragement, and those who are achieving success day by day.

It is reported that nearly 30 percent of a non-profits' annual donations come in the month of December. We are working hard every day to ensure that all donors have an opportunity to give, that donors understand and learn about where their dollars are going, and most important, that JFCS continues to be a premier organization and a top choice for donor giving.

We recognize there are many choices for year-end giving and we hope you consider JFCS as one of those! Thank you in advance for continuing to support the critical work of JFCS - each and every donation makes a huge impact.

For further information or questions regarding year-end giving, please contact Dana Rubin, Development Director at 952-542-4803, or [email protected].

NextGen: A new approach to giving
NextGen has a new way of allocating funds through its
Circle of Giving

Since its launch in 2011, the JFCS NextGen program has provided a unique giving opportunity for young adults to make donations and then see the impact of their contribution directly through volunteering. Outside of NextGen's three annual social events, at which funds are raised for at least one pre-specified project, funds donated to the NextGen Gives Annual Campaign have previously been allocated only by the NextGen Board.

This year's Campaign is taking a different approach, in which all NextGen participants that make a donation are offered the chance to participate first-hand in the allocation of funds.

On Dec. 8, 28 NextGen Board Members and donors took part in the first-ever NextGen Giving Circle Meeting. After reviewing five proposals, the group voted on how to allocate a total of $3,000. During the meeting, facilitated by NextGen Gives Campaign Co-Chairs Emily & Maksim Grinberg, funds were awarded to JFCS Emergency Financial Assistance, the Parent-Child Home Program, Financial Assistance for Holocaust Survivors, Solutions to Senior Hunger, and a volunteer project with the Jeremiah Program.

NextGen plans on holding its second Giving Circle Meeting in June 2017. Young adults interested in participating can make a gift to the Campaign here.
