Program Description
In today's program, Dr. Sharen Westin provides the use of imagination and fairy tales,  Rapunzel in this case, in formulating treatment and treatment goals.  She demonstrates that dreams, child's play and fantasy expose underlying pathologies, which enhance dialogue between analyst and analysand.
 
Audience
MD's, Psychologists, LCSW's, MFT's, Registered Nurses, and other learners interested in developing psychoanalytic understanding.  
 
Course Objectives
At the end of this activity, participants will be able to: 
  • Use fairytale and dream imagery to identify themes in the unconscious;
  • Incorporate imagery in making interpretations to improve patient outcomes;
  • Outline the merging process between a mother and daughter in a case study.
Program Faculty

Dr. Sharen Westin is a Supervising and Training Analyst at PCC.  She concurrently has a private practice in Beverly Hills treating adults with Borderline and Psychotic states of mind and teaches at UCLA.  Dr. Westin belongs to both the American Psychoanalytic Association and International Psychoanalytical Association.

This activity has been planned and implemented in accordance with the IMQ and the CMA's CME accreditation  standards through the PCC. The PCC is accredited by the Institute for Medical Quality/California Medical Association (IMQ/CMA) to provide continuing medical education for physicians. The PCC designates this educational activity for a maximum of 2.5 AMA PRA Category 1 Credit(s)™. This credit may also be applied to the CMA Certification in Continuing Medical Education.

The Psychoanalytic Center of California is approved by the California Association of Marriage and Family Therapists to sponsor continuing education for LMFTs and LCSWs (CAMFT Approved Provider #135374). The PCC maintains responsibility for this program/course and its content. 
This course meets the qualifications for 2.5 hours of continuing education credit for LMFTs, LCSWs, LPCCs, and/or LEPs as required by the California Board of Behavioral Sciences. 
 
This course is approved by the California Board of Registered Nursing (Provider #CEP6003) for up to 2.5 contact hours. 
 
Claiming Credit:  Participants will receive a certificate of attendance at the event, which can be used toward licensing requirements. Participants claiming CME credit should only claim continuing education hours/credit commensurate with their actual participation in this activity. All other learners must attend the entire course to claim credit; no partial credit is offered according to CAMFT requirements. Credit is offered for actual instruction time and does not include breaks.
 
Refunds/CancellationsRefunds, less a $10 administrative fee, will be made if cancellation notification is phoned or postmarked three (3) business days in advance of this program. There will be no refunds on requests received after the refund deadline. Full refunds are made in the event that PCC must cancel this program.
