2017 Awards and Recognition Nomination applications are now being accepted!  

Each year the New York State Recreation and Park Society presents a series of awards that have become a coveted honor for the people and organizations singled out for their contributions to parks and recreation.

These awards will be presented at the Annual Awards Luncheon, held in Rochester at the Annual Conference in April. Only current members of NYSRPS are eligible to nominate qualified candidates for these awards. If you have someone in your organization that you would like to nominate please download the application and return it  by February 24, 2017 to Charry Lawson at the Town of Onondaga Parks & Recreation.

It's that time of year again! Membership renewals are coming up for all with membership cycles that run February 1st -January 31st. Invoices will be sent in the mail very soon! Please be sure to renew either by check, credit card or PO no later than January 15th so they may be processed in time.

Winter Ski Ticket Program

Winter Ski Consignment Tickets Now Available For Order!

Consignment ticket sales are a wonderful way to extend a terrific service to your park patrons and earn a few dollars for NYSRPS.

NYSRPS extends a price approximately 40% less than the gate price to our NYSRPS members. You have the ability to mark the tickets up for resale by $1.00.

Participating ski slopes this year include Hunter, Bromley, Mountain Creek, and Windham.

Grant Opportunities


The National Recreation and Park Association (NRPA), with the support of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), is now accepting applications for the Instructor Training for Adults 50+ Physical Activity Programs Grant.

The grants will be awarded in the form of instructor training to implement evidence-based arthritis intervention programs in local park and recreation departments. Those applying for the grant can apply to receive training for either Walk With Ease or Active Living Every Day.

A total of 300 instructor training grants will be awarded.
Applications are due Friday, December 16.

The 22nd Annual Downstate Conference held November 15th at the Westchester County Civic Center in  White Plains, NY was a terrific success!
With 27 sessions, 30 presenters, 28 vendors and nearly 300 participants, even the untimely downpour couldn't dampen the enthusiasm for our gathering of insight, training and peer networking.

A special thank you to the following  organizations for making this wonderful conference possible: METRO, WRAPS, NYSTRA, HVLSA and NYSRPS.
