Lexmark Introduces Smart Document Capture 

Lexmark International Inc. has announced the availability of Lexmark Smart Document Capture for Military, a solution that leverages the Lexmark Smart MFP platform to simplify and speed up error-prone and inefficient paper-based processes, driving greater efficiency and security in Department of Defense (DoD) services.

Smart process management tools accessed directly from the Lexmark smart MFP touch-screen interface facilitate automated document classification, data verification and compliance checks to make sure required information or documentation is in place. Features, screens and prompts are specific to DoD processes. 

The solution integrates with core business and back-end systems to leverage a single, distributed capture solution across multiple platforms and workflow processes. Armed with built-in security to protect data, the solution is also PKI/CAC enabled to permit authorized users to access information found on the MFP touchscreen.

Sharp MFP's Certified by McKesson Healthcare

Sharp Imaging & Information Company of America (SIICA) is pleased to announce that Sharp's newest high speed MFPs, the MX-6580N/MX-7580N and MX-M905 are now classified as "Qualified" for use with the McKesson STAR 2000TM system.




As one of the key healthcare organizations in the U.S., McKesson provides services to a broad spectrum of hospitals and physician practices. McKesson's STAR 2000 is an open systems-based Hospital Information System (HIS) that enables healthcare organizations to automate processes and procedures surrounding the healthcare revenue cycle including access management. The STAR 2000 family of products include STAR Patient Accounting, STAR Financials and STAR Clinicals (STAR Radiology, STAR Pharmacy and STAR Laboratory).


Lexmark Sees Double Digit printer Growth Since Acquisition

According to Recycling Times Media, printer manufacturer Lexmark sold 717,000 printers in the first half of 2017, a 19.7% year-over-year increase. Their acquisition from a company fully entrenched in this industry seems to have added stability to the printer OEM.

Lexmark has not replaced CEO David Reeder, who left earlier this year and RT Media is reporting that Ninestar, Lexmark's owner, has formed a Lexmark Executive Committee to steer the company. It appears the CEO post will not be filled, at least not anytime soon, if at all.
Cyber Threat Trends Report

While the number of malware executable files and potentially unwanted applications has dropped, plenty of other threats continue to multiply.

Report after report warns businesses, government and consumers of increasingly sophisticated attacks.   T he Webroot® 2017 Annual Threat Report found that rising threats today include ransomware, exploit kits with ransomware, malicious Android apps and high-risk URLs, among others.
