November
Notes from the Principal:

The 1st quarter is officially over, and we are rocking and rolling at Pataskala. Our 3rd grade FALL AIR Testing is complete, and I am so proud of the effort all of our students gave on this assessment.

Homerooms & Teams were in a points battle, keeping a live leader-board of the Top classes who were making good choices both inside and outside of the classroom. Teachers awarded class points for following teacher specific classroom expectations and classes earned bonus points for showing RRCC (Respectful, Responsible, Caring and Capable) acts around the school. Classes also spun the BIG Wheel for additional bonus points for having the cleanest classroom and lunch room table each week, getting perfect attendance for 17 days, and other building challengings. After a close finish, we want to congratulate Mrs. LeJeune's HR (2nd grade) and Mrs. Williamson's HR (3rd grade) for being the HR Champions, and for Team WILD and Team BRAVEHEART as our Team Champions! Points have now started over and a new champion will be crowned for the 2nd quarter.

It was so great to see many of you at our Pataskala Fall Festival and please check out the events this month for other opportunities to come into our building. If you have any questions, concerns or highlights, please reach out anytime.

How to help your student learn
Tips for Success!
Here a few suggestions to help ease frustrations with homework after-school:

1) Have a homework-friendly area- well lit area that has school supplies (pencils, scissors, glue sticks, markers) available to use
2) Schedule a regular time to complete homework- after snack, after outdoor play, after dinner
3) Have a plan- organize what order you will complete your given tasks
4) Keep distractions to a minumum
5) Do your own work- your parents/siblings can help but should not complete your work for you
6) Circle or star any problems you could not figure out to let teachers know you need help the next day

Homework is extra practice to help reinforce things students are learning in the classroom. It should not take longer than 30 min a night!

Teacher Spotlight
What a team!!

Teacher/Staff Spotlight
When students walk through the cafeteria line at Pataskala Elementary, they are greeted with a smile and positive words. The amazing team of cooks, led by Jo, graciously serve over 400 hot lunches a day. Dar, Shalene, and Lisa keep an appetizing smell in the lunch lines, cafeteria, and hallways. Often a thankless job, this team of cooks deserves praise for all of their hard work, positive attitudes, and willingness to go above and beyond for our kids. You ladies rock!
