The Bay Area's TOP Casino
|
|
The Bay 101 Casino held their Grand Opening on Thursday evening, Oct. 12 and received a rousing welcome. The new $53 million building, which spans 68,000 square-feet on North First Street in San Jose, is now Feng Shui certified and uses energy-efficient lighting. "We're very proud of the finished project," said Rich Alvari, the Casino's director of sales, marketing and special events. "The lighting, the open space, the rich wood. The idea was to have a comfortable space; not the glitzy Las Vegas feel." The new Bay 101 Casino is also home to The Province, a Asian fusion restaurant from the owners of three upscale Santana Row eateries: Sino, Straits and Roots & Rye. |

The San Francisco 49ers fortunes continued to head south on Sunday as they lost to their hosts, the Philadelphia Eagles, 33-10. With the defeat, the team dropped to 0-8 for the first time in the franchise's 72-season history. Rookie running back Matt Breida (22) worked hard, catching four passes and scoring the Niners only touchdown. Photo by Michael Zagaris. |

San Francisco 49ers v. Philadelphia Eagles

49ers rookie defensive lineman Solomon Thomas (94) from Stanford is shown above closing in on Philly quarterback Carson Wentz (11), who would keep the Eagles on their winning ways. Philadelphia (7-1) now has a commanding lead in the NFC East and a playoff berth in sight. Photo by Michael Zagaris. |

Showing elusive skills, Philly's second year quarterback Carson Wentz (11) stayed out of harms way most of the time but San Francisco 49ers defensive lineman Leger Douzable (92, not pictured) was able to register two sacks on the day. Wentz completed 18 of 32 passes for 221 yards, two touchdowns and one interception. Photo by Michael Zagaris. |

Despite with a deleted offensive line in front of him, 49ers rookie quarterback C.J. Beathard put up respectable numbers, completing 17 of 36 passes for 167 yards, one touchdown and throwing two interceptions. Beathard was also hit 12 times and dropped for four sacks. Oakland Raiders v. Kansas City Chiefs

Endy Rivas (left) and Eric Barnhart (center) participated in the National Anthem as flag holders for the Raiders/Chiefs game. Rivas served four years as a Marine and friend Barnhart was instrumental in providing the opportunity. Both friends are part of the Raiders Fan Profiles compiled in 2016 by photographer Ed Jay and the Ultimate Sports Guide. Seldom out of the spotlight, Oakland's Marshawn Lynch (24, right) dashed off the sidelines during the Kansas City Chiefs game, coming to the aid of friend and Chiefs cornerback Marcus Peters. In racing into the fracas, Lynch bumped line judge Julian Mapp in the chest and then grabbed Mapp by the unifofm, before letting go. Lynch was suspended for one game, which he has now served. The spirit of the old west was alive and well in San Francisco as the 2017 Grand National Livestock Exposition, Horse Show and Rodeo came to the Cow Palace for two action-packed weekends, October 13-14 and October 21-22. From top to bottom the Cow Palace was filled with the ultimate western experience, which included a classic western BBQ, livestock expositions, horse shows, autograph signings, music and dancing, mechanical bull rides and much more! Cal Bears v. Arizona Wildcats
|
Cal (4-5, 1-5 Pac-12) lost their 11th straight conference road game on Saturday to Colorado (5-4, 2-4 Pac-12), 44-28, but had a better time a week earlier at Memorial Stadium. At home they stayed competitive with the Arizona Wildcats (6-2, 4-1 Pac-12), only to lose in double overtime, 45-44. Above, Cal junior wide receiver Vic Wharton III seems airborne during the game and may have been, as he reeled in a game-high eight receptions for 98 yards. An enthusiastic crowd was treated to two full days of rugby, with 16 top West Coast collegiate teams under sunny, ideal conditions. Saturday featured four-team brackets with winners emerging from the round-robin format into Sunday's Cup Bowl and Shield competition. The Cup Quarter finals saw Cal shut out SDSU 29-0, UCLA falling to Central Washington 24 -21, defending champs Arizona handling USC 34 -0 and Utah Valley University beating ASU 21-14. Richard Petty Motorsports
|
In one of the organization's most anticipated moments in its history, Richard Petty Motorsports announced Darrell "Bubba" Wallace Jr. as the new driver of the No. 43 made famous by team co-owner, "The King" Richard Petty. Wallace, 24, will compete full-time in the Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series and for the Sunoco Rookie of The Year beginning at the 2018 Daytona 500. Wallace, a native of Mobile, Alabama, is already one of the sport's most popular figures with an incredible record of success behind the wheel. A graduate of both NASCAR's Drive for Diversity and NASCAR Next programs, Wallace has broken several barriers and records throughout his rise within the sport.
"This is a dream come true to race for 'The King', Richard Petty Motorsports, the iconic No. 43 and for all the fans and partners that have and continue to support this team," said Wallace.
