As of today,
346 students have been trained as TUPE Peer Educators! These young people represent middle schools, high schools, and non-traditional (continuation) schools from Antioch, Brentwood, Byron, Liberty, Mt. Diablo, Pittsburg, and West Contra Costa school districts. Peer Educators are anti-tobacco advocates, providing information, resources, and support to their peers, and inspiring all members of their school community by modeling healthy choices and leadership.

Did you know? Most smokers try many times before quitting for good. Every day, week, or month without smoking is a success, not a failure. The more people try, the more they learn about how to quit and the closer they get to their goal. No cost quit/cessation resources are available at www.nobutts.org.

Training: Brief Intervention for Substance-Using Adolescents
Thursday, November 30 | 9:00 AM - 4:00 PM
Brief Intervention is a short-term counseling intervention that consists of two to four sessions aimed at adolescents who use alcohol, tobacco and/or other drugs. Appropriate for school counselors, administrators, TUPE Site Coordinators, afterschool program staff, and community-based organization staff. Continued Education Hours (LMFTs, LCSWs, LPCCs and/or LEPs) available.

Community Forums: Underage Drinking & Drug Use 
Are you concerned about alcohol and other drug use in your community? Mark your calendar!
Residents are invited to talk about major issues surrounding underage alcohol and marijuana use, unused and expired prescriptions, and other drug use to influence future services in our communities. These meetings are free and open to all Contra Costa County residents especially young people.

Tobacco kills more people than AIDS, alcohol, car crashes, murders, suicides, other drugs, and fires... combined. Despite fewer teens smoking than ever before, tobacco is still a major health issue and it affects some communities a lot more than others. Explore the tobacco industry targeting of the African American community, health disparities, and prevention strategies.
Our featured speaker will be Dr. Valerie Yerger,
Associate Professor in Health Policy at the University of California, San Francisco (UCSF).
