 --NAMI Support Groups--
 
 
E very Tuesday  - 5:30 p.m.-7:00 p.m.   (October 31st)  -   Connection Support Group  meets at R Place (10 E. Benton Street). 
The Connection support group is facilitated by individuals living with a mental illness who are trained in facilitating support meetings, but are NOT professional counselors.  The meetings are open to all individuals who have a mental illness.

Every Thursday - 6:30 p.m. - 7:30 p.m. (November 2nd) Family Support Group meets at NAMIJC office (1105 Gilbert Ct. Suite 200).
The family support group is facilitated by family members, who are trained in facilitating support meetings, but are NOT professional counselors. The meetings are open to all families who are concerned about a family member who is experiencing mental illness. 

Second Thursday each month - 9:00 a.m.  (Nov 9th) - NAMI Family Breakfast for breakfast and conversation.

Second Monday each month - 6:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m. (cancelled) - NAMI WORKS meets at the NAMIJC Office (1105 Gilbert Court, Suite 200).
This support group is for individuals living with a mental illness and employed in the community.  Topics covered will be driven by the group but may include your struggles and successes of living with a mental illness, legal rights as an employee, how and when to talk to your employer and co-workers about mental illness, how to deal with difficult days, whether at work or at home and everyday coping skills.

Welcome to NAMI Iowa's 2017 Annual Conference! 

This year features exciting keynote speakers from NAMI National and Iowa stakeholders such as DHS Director Jerry Foxhoven. This conference features three tracks for breakout sessions so you can hear experts on subjects that interest you! The first track is for NAMI affiliate capacity and growth. The second track is a general interest track, and the third focuses on children's mental health. Please note, there are no CEU's available for this conference.

Where can I stay Friday night?
We have 15 rooms blocked at the Ramada, where the conference is being held. Hotel rooms cost $139 per night and will blocked off until October 16th. Please make your reservations prior to this date. There are a number of hotels less than a mile from the Ramada with cheaper rates:

Is there reimbursement for mileage?
Carpool to save money! NAMI Iowa will pay your mileage if:
*You have at least 4 people in your car
*Drive 60 or more miles to the event
*Just tell us who was in your car, where you came from and your total mileage. We will reimburse up to $100 per car.
Is there a scholarship available?
Yes, there are a limited number of scholarship tickets available. Please select a scholarship ticket at checkout and follow the directions to purchase your ticket and complete a scholarship application. Scholarship recipients are also eligible for room reimbursement.
Can non-NAMI members attend all events on Friday and Saturday?
You do not have to be a NAMI member to attend the annual conference. However, on Saturday non-members cannot vote on items such as board nominations.
