Meet Ashley McIntosh. She is married and she and husband have one fur baby. Their extended family lives in Alabama where they both grew up. Mrs. McIntosh is in her 5th year of teaching Biology at Mary Persons. What does she like most about her job? "The kids and the way they look when they are successful, especially in something that they didn't think they could do." She enjoys crafting when she has spare time, and traveling to new places. If she could go back in time, she would travel back to "2004 to before my grandfather passed away so I could spend more time with him before he was gone." If she did not have to sleep, she would use the extra time to catch up on Netflix shows.  People come to her when they need advice for making difficult decisions "because I am honest even when it is difficult to say or think." Her family and friends have influenced her life the most - each person has helped and encouraged her to be successful and happy. "Thinking about all the things I still need to get done" keeps her up at night.  Before teaching, she worked as a legal assistant, and even took the LSAT and almost went to law school. 

During a recent MP Period seniors were provided information about scholarships & an opportunity to sign up to learn more.  The counselors were on hand in the library for those seniors who wanted to learn more. They provided helpful tips and scholarship websites.

Students who are planning to attend a four year college, must take the SAT or ACT and obtain qualifying score.  Mary Persons  is a testing site for BOTH tests. We are able to provide waivers only to juniors or seniors who participate in the free/reduced lunch program. Eligible students can see their counselor or Mrs. Miller to receive fee waivers.

SAT Registration: Go to www.collegeboard.org to register for the SAT. You must have a waiver code or credit/debit card to register. Cost without a waiver is $46.00 (no writing) or $60.00 with writing.

ACT Registration: Go to www.actstudent.org to register for the ACT. You must have a waiver code or credit/debit card to register. Cost without a waiver is $42.50 (no writing) or $58.50 with writing.

The FAFSA® is the application that students must complete to apply for federal student aid, which can be used to attend an eligible college or career school. Federal student aid includes Federal Pell Grants, federal student loans, and work-study opportunities. In addition to determining eligibility for federal student aid, many states, private organizations, colleges, and career schools rely on information from the FAFSA to determine eligibility for nonfederal sources of aid. 

ALL students must complete this form regardless of parent income.  The 2018 FAFSA application is now open.  

The Art Club is hosting the 3rd annual Empty Bowls Dinner fundraiser on  Thursday, November 16th from 5:30-7:30  in the Fine Arts Center.  Tickets are $15, and go on sale Monday, October 30th.  

Come share a soup dinner with us and take home a student-made ceramic bowl.  All proceeds benefit Monroe Co. Backpack Buddies.

FBLA is once again collecting hygiene products for iCare to help needy students in Monroe County. Bring any hygiene products (soap, deodorant, shampoo, conditioner, toothbrushes/paste, etc.) to Mrs. Little or Mrs. Myers on the Main Campus or Ms. Sparks on the Freshman Campus.

Get your DQ Blizzard every Thursday immediately after school in Room 227.  They are $2 each.

Heritage Candle and Boston Butt  fundraisers begin October 25. See an FBLA member or adviser to get your candle or Boston Butt. Heritage Candles are handmade in the USA and burn for approximately 75 hours, keeping their scent to the very bottom. Boston Butt certificates are good for one year, and they can be redeemed at Welch's Meats beginning December 1, 2017. Deadline to order is November 29.

Tri-M Music Honor Society is hosting their third annual talent show - MP's Got Talent! The talent show will be held on  November 14th . 

Congratulations to our Cheerleaders!  They won 2nd place this past weekend. This coming weekend they will be competing for the Region Championship against West Laurens High School. Good luck!!!
