  This Week at
Palm City Presbyterian Church
This week we begin our monthly long Advent celebration. For the Christian, Advent is actually our New Year Celebration as we await Christ's birth. This week we focus on an important, but downplayed scene in Luke where Joseph and Mary take Jesus to the temple after his birth. They meet some interesting people who have some incredible things to say about the newborn babe. Join us this week as we ring in the Advent season.

THE HOLIDAYS ARE UPON US!  This is the best time of the year to invite someone new to church.  There is an insert in your bulletin that you can use as an invitation.  Larger poster - sized versions are available in the narthex/lobby for you to take along if there is a bulletin board where you can pin it up at work, school, local grocery store, coffee shop, wherever.
INVEST in a relationship at home, work, school, or neighborhood, and INVITE someone to church.

                                    SAVE THE DATE!!!!
Palm City Presbyterian Church Family Christmas VBS Sunday, December 11th from 5-7 pm.
Our Awana program is hosting the festival, so this will
occur as the weekly meeting for that evening.
If you enjoyed the Fall festival last year, you'll love
our Christmas festival this year!

Ready or not, here comes Advent!
Starting Sunday, November 27th, you will find a daily Advent reading posted on our Facebook page. Each day, Youth Ministry Director Kristen McWilliams will provide you with a verse and a thought for this season. As a church and as a community, let's join together in reading from God's holy Word, allowing it to be a lamp to our holiday path.

The November Newsletter is now available on our website.

Out-of-the-country mission trip meeting on Tuesday, November 29th at 8:00 p.m. Join us downstairs Langill for a meeting to gauge the INTEREST for a trip of this nature. This trip would be for high-school students ( Juniors and Seniors only) and adult chaperones. Potential plans will be presented and discussed, but nothing will be decided.   ( Note: if this trip were to take place, it would occur somewhere between late June and early July.)

DEACONS GIVING TREES
Once again the Deacons are coordinating the Giving Trees which provide presents to needy families in our community. While admiring the beautiful decorations adorning the sanctuary this December, be sure to look for the specially decorated Giving Trees located in the narthex and in the Huizenga Family Life Center and grab one of those ornaments or angels off the tree. The gold ornaments represent the opportunity to donate $20 Wal-Mart gift cards to residents at the Dunklin Memorial Camp and the Refuge Ranch, a faith-based, drug and alcohol rehabilitation centers. This year the angels provide shoes and socks to the children attending the Gertrude Walden Child Care Center and Refuge Ranch. Each angel lists a child, and the child's shoe/sock size. Church members who select an angel should purchase the items, wrap them, attach the angel to the package/packages and return them to the church office by December 16th. LynnAnn White is coordinating the delivery of the presents to the child care center and welcomes members of the congregation to join this annual December mission outreach that spreads the good news of Christ's birth in our community. For more information, call Janet in the church office.
The preschoolers from Gertrude Walden Child Care Center are singing at the 9:30 am service December 11th in the HFLC. Their performance is sure to warm even the coldest grinch's heart and put everyone in the mood for Christmas.

CHRISTMAS COOKIE BAKING to Support our Local Missions
Every year the congregation supports our local missions in several ways during the Christmas season. Christmas cookie baking is one way to provide a "touch of home" during the holidays to those who are not with their loved ones.
Most of the Dunklin Memorial Church Camp and Refuge Ranch residents, will not be going home for Christmas.
Every December, PCPC takes a check, makes a visit, and brings presents and/or Christmas cookies to our locally supported missions. On Tuesday, December 20th, LynnAnn White will be taking these items to the Director and children at the Gertrude Walden Child Care Center between 10:00 and 10:30 am. If you have never been a part of this wonderful experience, please consider doing so this year. Call LynnAnn @485-0123 for details.
When you start your holiday baking please consider making extra cookies (3 dozen perhaps) to share with these local missions. Bring them to the church no later than Monday, December 19th so they can be delivered with checks and gift cards. They can be frozen, refrigerated, or brought in fresh for delivery. Please take them to the main office.
Thank you for remembering others with your baking, and Merry Christmas!
