DECEMBER 2016 E-NEWSLETTER
A Message From Our President

I can't believe it is already December - 2016 flew by so quickly! It has been a very eventful year for Autism Society San Diego as we celebrated our 50th year of providing service and support to the San Diego autism community. Starting with our Kickoff celebration in January, we also debuted our new adult summer recreation program, AWARE (Adults with Autism Recreation Experience) in conjunction with the Magdalena Ecke YMCA this July. In September we launched our new fundraising walk and family festival, Walk and Rock for Autism. At the end of September, we hosted our first ever Family Camp weekend up at beautiful Camp Martson in Julian. We are proud to announce that for 2017, we will be holding both a spring and a fall Family Camp Weekend. Finally, we finished off our 50th anniversary celebrations with our 50th Anniversary Gala in October at the San Diego Downtown Library. This amazing celebration was the culmination of much hard work and effort on the part of many of our dedicated board members and other volunteers. Now we turn our attention to working for another 50 years of service and support!

We hope that you can join us this month and help us celebrate the holidays. Both our Family Pizza and Pool Party and our Family Gym Night will be special holiday events this month. We are proud to announce that Santa will be taking time out of his busy December schedule to attend both of these events, so be sure to come get a picture with Santa without going to the mall!

Finally, I want to personally thank each and every one of you that supported us in 2016. From our fundraising events like Splash for Cash and Beers and Cheers for Autism to our online events like #GivingTuesday, the support we receive from our community is overwhelming. It is thanks to each and every one of you that we can continue to offer the many programs that we have available to the community. It is an honor to be a part of this organization and this community. I wish you all the very best for the holidays and 2017.

Thanks,

Amy  Munera
