Last week's survey results on the question of .....:
Who's responsibility is it for any malfunction of a pylon type sign? The Client? The Sign company? The Council? The Fabricator? The Engineer? The Installer?
|
- There may be degrees of responsibility from different parties depending on the malfunction. Ultimately the client will be holding the sign company responsible and the sign company will need to ascertain cause and if possible seek recompense from the relevant party/ies that have contributed to the malfunction. It's important for all parties to have everything documented and for all parties to understand all documentation. (Paul Rapisardo, Signarama, Tullamarine)
- That depends on the malfunction. If it is normal wear and tear on electronics it is down to the clien, especially if it is outside of 12 months. If the actual structure fails then it could come back onto the engineer. If it malfunctions within just a few months the very likely that the sign company will have to correct the fault. (John Lyus, Appealing Signs)
- I would suggest the answer relies on what type of malfunction. If it is a fault with the working of the pylon then depending on age but generally it would be the client unless it is under warranty then the company supplying the sign. If it is a display fault then probably the sign supplier. Age of the sign / pylon would be a big factor in determining fault.
-
Responsibilities are as below:
|
1 -Artwork mistake, sign not big enough - the client who approved the artwork. |
2 - Colours & graphic peeling/fading quick/warping - the signshop for using rubbish and cutting corners. |
3 - Too much red tape delaying install while the weather was good - the council (as they are never wrong for anything else ;-) |
4 - Out of square,rough finish, lighting fault - the fabricator. |
5 - Whole thing tilted/bent/fell over - the engineer. |
6 - Pieces/panels falling off/cracked, or lighting stops working - the installer. |
If in doubt, blame the sign company as everyone else does
|
- The printer, it is always the printers fault regardless of the cause. From clients spelling mistakes, through delivery service failure, to posters adhered to painted walls where the paint falls off.. it is always the printers fault/ Scott McInnes, SHOTZ Print, QLD)
- Crazy question - it totally depends on what exactly is wrong. Is the electrics, is the paint work, etc????

An old man went to the Doctor complaining that his wife could barely hear him.
The Doctor suggested a test to find out the extent of his wife's problem. "Stand a distance behind her and ask her a question, and then slowly move closer and see how far away you are when she first responds."
The old man excited to finally be working on a solution for the problem, runs home and sees his wife preparing supper.
"Honey" the man asks standing around 20 feet away "what's for supper?"
After receiving no response, he tries it again 15 feet away, and again no response. Then again at 10 feet away and again no response.
Finally, he was 5 feet away "honey what's for supper?"
She replies, "For the fourth time it's lasagne!"
