Regional Receptions Continue in Florida
|
We're bringing a touch of Florida Southern to you! We've been hosting a series of receptions where alumni and friends can reconnect, reminisce, and hear what's to come at Florida Southern.
On January 25, 2017, we'll be gathering at the Interlachen Country Club in Winter Park, Florida. On February 10, 2017, we will host a reception in Naples. If you've been thinking about getting out of the cold and making a trip to sunny Florida, why not plan a trip around one of our great receptions? Alumni and Friends Enjoy Holiday Traditions at FSC
|
Alumni, faculty, family and friends enjoyed an evening of Christmas celebrations on December 7. Attendees had pictures taken with Mocsie Claus and experienced a truly Southern Christmas dinner, followed by the Lessons & Carols Candlelight Service in Annie Pfeiffer Chapel. The evening ended with the McKay Christmas Tree Lighting & Holiday Desserts at the Water Dome.

Founders Day Weekend & Golden Mocs Reunion March 31 - April 1, 2017

Founders Day Weekend will be celebrated Friday, March 31 - Saturday, April 1, 2017, during which the Golden Mocs Reunion festivities will be held. If you graduated 50 or more years ago, you're a Golden Moc! Come join in the fun.
A special Founders Day Convocation will be held Friday, March 31, 2017, at 11:00 am in Branscomb Auditorium. Dr. Glenn D. Lowry, director of The Museum of Modern Art, will be the 2017 Honorary Chancellor. The 2017 Alumni Achievement Award Recipients will be honored during this special Founders Day Convocation.

New Athletics Complex in the Works
Florida Southern broke ground November 4 on a multi-million dollar renovation to the Barnett Athletic Complex that will give the College state-of-the-art facilities for softball, soccer and lacrosse. Read More.

The Florida Southern Greek community welcomed Delta Delta Delta (Tri Delta) sorority to campus this fall with an impressive 81 new members initiated. The new chapter will be installed in January, joining sororities Alpha Chi Omega, Alpha Delta Pi, Alpha Omicron Pi, Gamma Phi Beta, Kappa Delta, and Zeta Tau Alpha, and fraternities Alpha Gamma Rho, Lambda Chi Alpha, Pi Kappa Alpha, Pi Kappa Phi, Sigma Alpha Epsilon, Sigma Chi, and Theta Chi.
Fall recruitment was robust. Assistant Director of Student Involvement Brittany Donatelli reports that 35% of the student body is Greek.

On November 15, the New Albany Community Foundation recognized Cindy and Dr. Keith Berend '92 with its annual Jeanne & John G. McCoy Community Service Award.
