Come to Bethlehem and see Him whose birth the angels sing;
come, adore on bended knee Christ the Lord, the newborn King.  ~Angles We Have Heard On High

Dear Friends~
The story passed down from generation to generation goes like this:

As vast numbers of angels swiftly descended toward earth through the star sprinkled sky, the leading angel halted them with a sign. They hovered with folded wings over a silent field near Bethlehem. "There they are," said the leading angel, "the humble shepherds who have been chosen by God to receive our message. It will be the most wonderful news that humans have ever received. Are you ready with your great angelic chorus?"

The leading angel drifted slightly downward so that the angel could be seen by the shepherds below. They were terrified! Each one of them covered their face in the brilliance of the light but deeply listened with awe as the vision before them began to speak:

"Do not be afraid. I bring you good news of great joy that will be for all the people. Today in the town of David a Savior has been born to you; he is Christ the Lord" (Luke 2:11).

Instantly surrounding the angel was the brilliant heavenly host, and echoing through the sky was the most beautiful singing that the shepherds had ever heard, exulting and praising God for the long-awaited gift of God's Son. They made haste to see the Savior with their own eyes.

Scripture tells us that angels are the ministering servants, the messengers of God and that they are continually being sent to help and protect us. Certainly their most important task was this earth-shattering occasion announcing Christ's arrival on earth!

On Sunday we will hear the story of Gloria, the Christmas Angel- words spoken by storyteller Bob Cole while the choirs (Hosanna, Bells, Chimes and Youth & Children) along with the worship team bring the story alive in song.  We too will have an opportunity to sing... with the angels!

You are NOT going to want to miss this!!  And invite your neighbors and family- to hear about the most unlikely of angels- GLORIA!

See you in church!  ~Pastor Linda

PS- You heard on Sunday from Council Vice-Chair Terry Dreyer about the opportunity to give a year-end gift in support of your church and the mission and ministry that we share.  Currently we are up to date will all our bills however to budget we are $40,000 behind.  In order to fulfill all of our yearend commitments in support of the mission and ministry that we share it is imperative that we end strong.  Please consider a yearend gift.  These gifts must be received or postmarked by December 31, 2016.  Click here to give online: http://www.hosannaforestlake.net/giving/

A Note From The Church Council
From the Church Council:
As we come to the end of 2016, we want to thank you for your generous gifts throughout the year to support the ministries of Hosanna Lutheran Church.   Thanks to the generosity of many people Hosanna continues to thrive;  worship continues to ground us in God's Word of grace,  children  and youth continue to learn the faith through education and service, we care for others  through Coats for Kids, FMSC and more.  As you plan your year-end charitable contributions we hope that you will consider a special gift to your church home.
As you consider your charitable gifts between now and the end of the year, remember that gifts made now can generate income tax deductions. To receive a credit for the 2016 calendar year for tax purposes, all gifts need to be postmarked or directed to the Hosanna by December 31, 2016. Your year end gift can be placed in the offering basket, sent to the church office or given online from the church website on or before December 31, 2016-  http://www.hosannaforestlake.net/giving/ .
Your gifts make such a positive difference.  Thank you!

Are You Okay? Program
Forest Lake Senior Center is sponsoring this program that offers comfort, security, and autonomy for senior citizens, disabled, or anyone who may lack an ongoing support system. The FL Senior Center realizes that many senior citizens live alone and may not have a family member living locally. This program is not intended to replace any contacts with family or friend but rather offer an added source of knowing you are being checked on daily. This is a FREE service and all that participants need is a home telephone to receive daily calls. As a member, you select the time of day they wish to be called. You will be called the same time each and every day. In the event that numerous attempts to reach you have failed, an welfare check will be arranged to check on you. This may be a Forest Lake Police Officer
