Dear Community,

Many families wish to show their appreciation to a special teacher, principal or support person who makes a difference in their child's life by offering a small gift during the holiday season. While our staff greatly appreciates these genuine gestures of thanks, I encourage you to consider a gift that keeps giving long after the holidays are over by donating to the NPSD Educational Foundation.

Not only will your gift honor a special staff member but it will benefit students in the North Penn School District directly in the form of a new innovative classroom grant awarded annually to staff members in many different subjects and grade levels. Such grants provide new educational opportunities to students that are otherwise not available through the school budget. To make a donation, please print and complete this form and return to the NPSD Educational Foundation with cash or check by Friday, December 16. You may donate in honor of as many staff members as you'd like. Honored staff members will receive a certificate with the name of your family to display in their classroom or office. Please note, the gift amount will not be released.

The NPSD Educational Foundation is a 501c (3) that was established in 1988 to raise funds for innovative and creative programs to improve our students' overall educational experience. To date, the Foundation has raised more than $1 million to enrich the lives of children in our school district, including a few recent grants highlighted in this letter. The NPSD administration, the North Penn Education Association and the North Penn Educational Support Personnel Association have endorsed this program and hope you will consider joining other parents and community members in this effort.

On behalf of the NPSD, we wish you all a safe and happy holiday.

Sincerely,

Curtis R. Dietrich, Ed.D.
Superintendent, NPSD

A.M. Kulp Honors Those Who Served
at Veterans Day Program

The students and staff at Kulp honored our heroes on Friday, November 11 at an assembly program in honor of Veterans Day. The program began with an introduction from Principal Neil Broxterman explaining the importance of this holiday and the sacrifices that thousands of men and women in the armed forces--past and present--have made for our freedom. Students shared essays explaining the significance of Veterans Day to them, watched a video presentation and heard from a local veteran about what it means to serve our country and the importance of perseverance and following your dreams.

Thanksgiving Day Alumni Flag Football Game

Thank you to our alumni participants, volunteers and community members who came out to our second annual Thanksgiving Day Alumni Flag Football Game!

Despite a last-minute location change to the NPHS Turf Field and some sprinkles early in the morning, that didn't stop friends, family and community members from coming out to support their favorite Knights and Crusaders of the past! The stands were filled with more than 500 fans from both North Penn and Lansdale Catholic.

We welcomed back 137 alumni football players from both NP and LC from the class of 1970 all the way to the class of 2016. Nearly 30 North Penn Marching Knights Alumni Band members marched onto field and rocked the stands to support our Knights!

Although Lansdale Catholic took home this year's title for the second year in a row with a final score of 68-51, North Penn will be back with a vengeance at next year's Thanksgiving Day Alumni Flag Football Game to take back that trophy!

Thank you to all of the volunteers and participants for making this community event such a huge success and a growing tradition!

Missed out? We've got you covered!

The North Penn School District proudly introduced a new program which taught students in 10th grade at NPHS how to perform "Hands-Only" cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) on Tuesday, November 29 and Wednesday, November 30 in the NPHS auditorium.

Following a presentation by the American Heart Association about this new technique seen by Dr. Curt Dietrich, Superintendent of the NPSD, he introduced the idea of incorporating it into our 10th grade students' Health curriculum which focuses on emergency situations and decision making. Curriculum Coordinators along with Health and Physical Education teachers were immediately on board, and so began the journey to bringing this program to life at NPHS.
