During the holidays, it's a safe bet to say the kitchen is probably one of the most popular rooms in the house.
Whether it's used for cooking, entertaining, drinking or just chatting, the kitchen seems to be the place where everyone gathers. Maintaining a clean kitchen is essential in order for guests - and hosts - to enjoy the holiday festivities
Give your kitchen appliances the gift of a good cleaning.
Dishwasher-Fill the detergent cup in your dishwasher with white vinegar for a nice cleaning. Run an empty cycle to wipe out lime deposits.
Microwave- Place a cup of water and a few slices of lemon in the middle of the microwave. Run the microwave for 3 minutes, then let it sit for 3 more minutes. The steam will work to soften food spills and the citrus smell will eliminate any odors.
Sink/Drains- Flush drains with a gallon of boiling water to keep them clog-free. Pour half in, wait a few minutes and then pour the other half. Add citrus peels to the garbage disposal while running water to create a pleasant aroma.
Refrigerator - You'll need to make sure your fridge is odorless and clean, especially if you are storing a lot of food. To get rid of smells, open a canister of oatmeal and allow that to sit in the space a few days before the holiday. This will absorb any rancid smells.
Now you can spend more time focusing on holiday entertaining and less time worrying about the cleanup.
