Fall-Winter 2016
BRIDGING THE GAP...
      WELCOME BEVVAN PHILLIPS, NEW CEO!
I am excited about the opportunity to become a part of the important educational, advocacy, and support services that United Cerebral Palsy of Nebraska provides to help people with a spectrum of disabilities and their families.  We have the opportunity to become leaders in our community focusing on the social support,  technology, and home modifications that are vital for independence and meaning in a person's life . We plan to continue our path of collaboration with other agencies that work with people with disabilities as this maximizes the beneficial effect of the projects. We will be actively looking for ways to strengthen our ability to provide personal grants that make acquisition of technology and home modifications a possibility for people across Nebraska and moving forward on meaningful new programs.
Ms. Phillips is bringing 35 years as an Occupational Therapist,  manager, and small business owner to United Cerebral Palsy of Nebraska. She has spent the past 18 years in Nebraska focused on home modifications and assistive technology in the private, volunteer, and government sector. She is both a licensed Occupational Therapist in Nebraska and Iowa and a certified Aging in Place Specialist through the National Association of Home Builders. An avid lifelong learner, she has worked as a Realtor and taken construction technology courses to fully understand all aspects of the home on a person's life. She is a well known regional speaker on the benefits of home modifications and assistive technology.  She has served as a volunteer for United Cerebral Palsy, Girls Scouts, and Boy Scouts since moving to Nebraska with her family from Virginia in 1997.
FUNDRAISING...

A big congratulations to all of our "steppers" for officially completing your "steps" for  STEPtember 2016!
Globally we raised more than 4 million dollars to help United Cerebral Palsy and its affiliates continue to provide vital services and supports to thousands of children and adults living with disabilities.  We can't thank you enough for "stepping" up to the challenge.   Watch Thank You Video Here
FAMILY FOCUS...
A "MIGHTY" Afternoon
We were thrilled to provide another "Sports Day" for over one-hundred special needs individuals in September. Games and challenges included Hockey, Basketball, Bowling, an Obstacle Course and more! We were lucky enough to be joined by UNO athletes and cheerleaders who helped the participants with the various events throughout the afternoon.

Pumpkin Patch Brings SMILES
Nothing says Fall like the Pumpkin Patch and what a perfect day it was!  Our annual event at Vala's took place on Saturday, October 1.  In addition to the pumpkin patch itself, the event included a hot dog roast and delicious s'mores for the participant's.

Part of our values is to give back to the community and UCP of Nebraska is so fortunate and excited to be able to produce events like these and so many others through our Family Focus Program.
COLLABORATION FOR IMPACT ...
