plans to give you a hope and a future"
Raising Godly leaders for a country in need
November 2016
Returning to Uganda is so much fun. It is so nice to once again be with my children, even those that have already grown up and left, being able to be near enough for an easy phone call or for them to stop by and see Momma. Eunice, my three year old, won't leave my side because she fears I am going to leave her again. This is her first year in my home and she is not too sure of where I was for the last two and a half months!
On Saturday afternoon we found some time to put up the Christmas tree together with Melanie. This was the
first time that Enoch, Eunice, Morgan, Cathy and Michelle have ever put up a Christmas tree, or even had one in their lives. They have never received any Christmas gifts and are excited that they will receive some. They are asking a lot of questions about why we receive or give gifts for Christmas. I explained that we do this in honor of our Lord's birthday because our Father in Heaven gave us the greatest gift ever in His son, Jesus Christ.

The dining hall for Genesis Nursery Primary School is coming along well and we are thankful to God for providing for this building. It will be nice for the children to actually sit at a table and eat their meals. Some of them have never done this before. They are still enjoying the new playground very much and are excited about the new dining hall.
We are thankful for those of you who have given to help make Christmas for the children in Uganda. If you have not had a chance to send in the funds for Christmas, it is never too late (although it is too late to send Christmas cards for the kids)! We are expecting around 1,500 at the Christmas party on the first Tuesday of December. We have begun with all the preparations for the celebration and in buying new clothes for the sponsored children, as well as food, (not to mention four cows to be butchered to give all children 2 kilos of beef), underwear, lotion, soap, etc.

All of the schools in Uganda require uniforms, including sturdy shoes. I remember measuring the feet of our first sponsored children the official local way with sticks and then taking these sticks to the store and putting them into shoes to get the right size for each converted the process to using a ruler as I was certain that taking bundles of sticks to the store as the sponsorship program grew was not going to be very practical. We purchase new school shoes for the children every January, the beginning of the school year, from sponsorship and Christmas funds. This becomes more difficult every year as the cost of shoes continues to rise.

Melanie has also returned and has begun her loving on the kids as well. She has AWANA going strong and we are very thankful for her. We are also excited to have Laura and Elizabeth joining us next summer for a full year after having spent time with us earlier this year. They will primarily work at our Genesis School, teaching the children, developing curriculum and working alongside the teachers to help develop their skills. Please pray for them as they raise funds for their time with us. Melanie's lease in Mbale
will be up at the end of January and she will move into
temporary housing until we are able to build a home for
her and the young ladies joining our team in the summer.
Thank you to those who have responded to our request
for funding this home and the need continues as we hope
to build it early in the New Year.

We ask for your prayers always and may the Lord richly
bless you and your family as you celebrate the birth of
our Savior.
