Chamber Board Chooses Kent Mitchell to Honor with 2016 Spirit of Sonoma County Award
The Healdsburg Chamber Board of Directors with a nomination from Mark Decker, voted unanimously to honor Kent Mitchell with the 2016 Spirit of Sonoma County Award. Kent, a longtime chamber member who served on the board as a representative from the City Council during the 1990's passed away in an accident in the Russian River this summer. Kent was a well -known community member and a frequent volunteer at Rotary, and Boys and Girls Club functions, a coach during his children's school years and after, and he spearheaded the Sesquicentennial Celebration for the City of Healdsburg in 2007. The Spirit of Sonoma County Awards are given each year to deserving community members who embody those qualities that are recognized as significant to the quality of life in Sonoma County. This year's awards will be held December 9 at the Double Tree Hotel in Rohnert Park.

Responsible Beverage Service Training December 13, 2016
The City of Healdsburg Police Department has partnered with the Sonoma County Department of Health Services to offer Responsible Beverage Service training on Tuesday December 13th at 8:30am at the Healdsburg Community Center (1557 Healdsburg Avenue). This 4-hour training provides up to date information on State ABC laws and regulations; local city and county alcohol ordinances; civil, criminal and administrative liability; strategies for preventing/refusing sales and/or service to minors and obviously intoxicated persons; and, how to check legally acceptable forms of identification.

Annual Fire Department Toy Drive
The annual toy drive has begun! The fire department is collecting new unwrapped toys for infants to 18 years of age now until December 19th at the fire station. Toys will be delivered to Healdsburg Community Church at 1100 University Street and distributed on December 21st to families.

2016 is coming to an end and it is time to update the Healdsburg Employee Recognition Opportunity (HERO) card. What is the HERO card? The HERO card is designed to both say thank you to our Healdsburg employees and to encourage local business. As a Healdsburg employer you can give HERO cards to your employees to use for special discounts and purchases at local businesses, and if you are a local business you can sign up to accept the card.
To be placed on the 2017 HERO card as a business offering a HERO special, simply fill out the HERO Form and return it to Aleena at the Healdsburg Chamber of Commerce by Monday, December 19th. The form can be returned by email to [email protected], fax to (707) 433-7562, or mailed to 217 Healdsburg Avenue, Healdsburg, CA 95448.
