JWA November 2016 Newsletter

Dear JWA friends,

It seems like time is flying by as we have successfully completed our first major event of the year, the Bazaar!

Pink Month

We had a very busy month of October, not only with all the holidays, but also with the many JWA Pink Month activities! We had a great turnout for our team at the Hong Kong Breast Cancer Foundation's Annual Pink Walk around The Peak, organised the second session of our Breast Cancer Awareness talk for Helpers in conjunction with the JCC and had a very fun ride at Spin for Cure at XYZ Studio in Central!

JWA Annual Charity Bazaar

The Bazaar was a great event and we were pleased to see so many members of our community actively participating to make it a success. The weather fully cooperated this year, allowing everyone to have a fantastic day out with the family. Thank you to our donors for your donations, support and help, and for making the Bazaar possible. Thank you to all those volunteers for driving a good bargain and to those who attended this year's JWA Bazaar. We had an excellent attendance and raised funds needed to continue supporting our Beneficiaries.

As in years past, we are moved every year by this great event that truly brings everyone from the community in Hong Kong together for a common goal of raising funds for those who need it.

70 Years Young

You may have noticed our newly, specially designed logo to commemorate a special milestone for the JWA. We are honoured to be celebrating our 70th Anniversary and hope you will join us in this historic year to mark the organisation's central role in the Jewish community of Hong Kong. We look forward to celebrating with you.

Please mark your calendars now and join us on May 4 for the JWA 70th Anniversary Platinum Gala, where we also celebrate Israel's 69th Birthday, Yom Ha'atzma'ut.

We are actively seeking help and volunteers for many areas and really appreciate any input, feedback and help to continue to keep this historic organisation alive.

See you soon at one of our upcoming events.

Spotlight on a Beneficiary - The Hayim Association

The HAYIM Association for Children with Cancer in Israel  is a  non-governmental organization  that works  to provide relief and support for  pediatric   oncology   patients  and their families in  Israel.

Dear JWA members,

I am honoured to be able to express our gratitude and appreciation to all the donors who support the Hayim association through the project of JWA of Hong Kong.

The high standards of medical excellence, professionalism, accomplishments and medical breakthroughs have propelled the treatment of children with cancer forward at such a pace, that over 80% of children are expected to be cured. Nevertheless, in order to achieve this goal and face the challenges, we need your support that will enable us to improve our patient's care and quality of life.

I would be happy to welcome every one of you, during your next visit to Israel, and show you in person what you have been supporting at our center. I am sure this can be a life changing experience.

On behalf of our young patients and the whole team

Thank you

Prof. Isaac Yaniv M.D.
Chairman, The Rina Zaizov Pediatric Hematology Oncology Division
Schneider Children's Medical Center of Israel
