Our 5th Year Students have been studying Atomic Structure.
As part of the study, each student was asked to construct a 3-D model of their chosen element and produce an accompanying index card which relayed researched information about their atom (its periodic symbol, atomic weight, number of protons, neutrons and electrons, and at least two things the element is used for). This week they presented their atom models.
At the end of the lesson, the students created a poem
about their study...herewith:
HOW TO BE AN ATOM
Creating Everything.
Seeing atoms only throughout a microscope.
Hold captive protons and neutrons in the nucleus.
Running around are electrons.
Circulating around are electron shells.
Mixing with other is where you'll find valence electrons.
Splitting an atom means...KABOOM!
