Just as a body, though one, has many parts, but all its many parts form one body, so it is with Christ. 1 Corinthians 12: 12

December 2, 2016

Dear North Community Catholic School Families:

Today was our annual Santa Shop and Stewardship Day, and I know our students had so much fun!  This has been a long-standing tradition in our school that I am very proud of!  Most schools have a day with a Santa shop where the students can do their own holiday shopping. That is always a fun experience in and of itself, but I love that in addition to shopping for their own families, our students also do many things which will benefit many people in the wider community.  The students got together with their "Bigs" and "Littles" and worked on several fun projects.   The children made fleece blankets which will go to Catholic Charities, baskets of toiletries for Cherry Street Mission, and tree ornaments were for our friends at CCMT Queen of Apostles School.  We decorated Reindeer candy cups for the hospice care center, Santa and snowman plates for the homebound parishioners, and holiday lunch bags for Food for Thought, an organization that makes bag lunches for the homeless.

I wish all of you a wonderful weekend and a Blessed Second Sunday of Advent!

Peace and Blessings,
Mrs. Beth Strbik
Principal

Yearbook Orders
Yearbook orders are now being taken. Forms were sent home with all students.  The yearbooks are $24.00 this year.  You may send cash or write a check payable to NCCS.

The deadline for ordering is December 9.  The yearbooks will be delivered to students when the new school year begins in August of 2017.  In this way, we are able to include all of our special events.

Don't miss out!  Get your order in before you forget.

Chess Club
Chess Club will now meet on Mondays until the end of the year.  We will probably need a new adult volunteer starting in January.

Our last meet was challenging! Two losses, two draws.  Good work by Jordan E. and Ava to play to a draw instead of a loss. There were competitors that had not played previously that were far more challenging.  We play one more match on November 30, and receive our final placement awards.

Also available at this site are school uniform approved full zip fleece jackets and 1/4 zip pull over fleece to keep our kids warmer during the colder months, in adult sizes as well.  Like the gym uniform, they can be ordered any time and will be delivered to the school.

SCRIP
Shopping for groceries, filling the tank with gas, eating at a favorite restaurant....These routine things we do every week have proven to be a great way for Blessed Sacrament parents to shave off money from their child's tuition.  You purchase gift cards or certificates from places you shop at anyway and the discount goes back to your child's tuition.  More than 200 local businesses participate in the SCRIP program.  Families who purchase the certificates can designate that their portion be applied to their tuition bill.  To purchase SCRIP, contact Katie at khoops@emich.edu or phone her at 419-438-0476.

Recycleable Collection Items

"The Environmental Club would like to remind you that we collect the following items to send to Terracycle in exchange for money.  The money earned is used for supplies for our Religion classes and to purchase peanut butter, jelly, and bread for the lunchroom for students who forget their lunch.  We have listed the items acceptable to recycle.  Please send them in with your child.  We ask that you continue saving the items during the summer vacation.  Thank you to those who have been assisting us already."
