IMPORTANT!

400 SAR members are not yet in compliance with the national Code of Ethics training requirement for the current cycle.  If you do not satisfy your Code of Ethics training requirement before the end of the year, your status as a REALTOR® will be subject to suspension.  Please see below for in-person Code of Ethics training at your SAR, or click here for online opportunities from NARCall your SAR if you have any questions: 326-9222.

REMEMBER: Your Code of Ethics training is at the heart of what it means to be a REALTOR® - please take it seriously and comply with your Code of Ethics training requirement promptly!  If you have already completed your Code of Ethics training for this cycle, congratulations - you're the boss!

The SAR will be closed Thursday (24th) and Friday (25th) to keep the Thanksgiving holiday. We wish you and those you hold dear a very happy holiday.

Are you Current on your COE Training?

REALTORS® are required to complete ethics training of not less than 2 hours and 30 minutes of instructional time within four-year cycles.

The training must meet specific learning objectives and criteria established by the National Association of REALTORS®.

The current four-year cycle will end December 31, 2016.

Training may be completed through local REALTOR® associations or through another method, such as home study, correspondence, classroom courses, or online courses. These are all detailed below.

How do you know if you're current on your COE requirement?

You can check yourself any time on your Paragon dashboard.

Once you're logged in, click on "SAR Member Profile" in the lower-left corner (see below).

Your COE status will appear in the blue box on the left: COE Complete: yes or no.

Of course, if you have any questions, your call will always be welcomed at your SAR: 326-9222.

The National Association of REALTORS ® 2016 Code of Ethics and Standards of Practice is available in PDF, translated, and audio versions.

Visit the NAR Code of Ethics page online here.

Negligent Referrals

All REALTORS® are in the business of giving referrals.

In this video, Washington REALTORS® Legal Hotline lawyer Annie Fitzsimmons discusses negligent referrals.

There is a claim of liability for negligent referrals which means you can be sued.

Annie talks more about what that means to you and what you can do to protect yourself (and your clients).
